A beautiful day today...sun is shining and Mocking bird and House Wrens are singing, water fountain is a lovely sound too. Slider open so Murphy is in and out yelling at anything. Flowers are blooming here and there

Sunday all day
The weather outside is frightful cooler than it has been. It is 95 and the forecast says 102 today. Better than the 110+ days.
This is the larger...just a bit so... in a different ribbon.
Yesterday Lisa and I went to JoAnn's for a few more travel pillows and when we arrived it was not allowing anyone in due to an electrical failure. So what are 2 gals to do while waiting? Right across the street is the Arrowhead Mall... of course we went there. Lisa had been looking for a jean skirt and we finally found one she liked and that fit nicely. Happy to visit with you but I must get the fluffing to fold and get ingredients in the bread machine. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.
Have you noticed...I seem to be able to get a post done later in the morning than before. So look for me later in the day!

He got mail!
We are still very hot...still 110+. I am looking forward to the cooler weather. Even the 90s sounds good. Yesterday I went for a haircut. I had not been since March then the virus arrived and once the salon opened again I was not ready. My hair was almost to my shoulder top! In this heat I was going crazy. The gal who did my hair is only working on Sundays due to her children being schooled at home still. A new cutter and I completely left it to her. I am so pleased with her skill. It is short again and with this heat will feel great. Of course if we are at the mall, then Lisa makes wants and I shop. We got great deals! I bought a weather proof 3/4 jacket. The tag said $99.00 and it was worth it especially when the register rang it up for $24.90! I did not know it was on sale. Most all we bought was on sale and we came home very happy.

What a day...yesterday
Yesterday morning I opened my slider to let Murphy out into the garden while I was making my bed. He did not make it through the lanai when I heard his
A baby...I do mean baby of about 4 inches long (and no tail yet) was in the lanai. Murphy got put into my bedroom and all doors including the slider shut.
How to catch this baby? Lisa got a box from recycle and I got the broom and we carefully got him into the box. He was so scared. His tiny ears trembled and Lisa was cooing to him. Then the question flowed out of her mouth..."can we keep him, I want to keep him, what can we feed him"! NO NO we are not keeping him! So, finally after she had her chat with him we let him go into the large cactus are where I know many bunnies live. Excitement over back to home business. Amazon delivered my paraffin was for my hand bath. Good I though I will get it cleaned and refilled. Once the top layer of was melted I peeled it off and found a box in the recycle bin. What, are you saying oh no... yep, just as I finished pouring the almost hot wax into it there was a puddle under the box all over the top of the dryer. "Lisa, Lisa" once again I called she came running and together we managed to get the dripping box...dripping on her bare toes....into a trash container. As soon as it firmed up I then began to scrap the wax into the trash bin. Lisa was thankful to now go to work! So there you have a normal day at the abode. Murphy continued to check around the lanai for the lost bunny and I settled to a cat nap.
Today will hopefully be a quiet day. I have an idea for the bathroom window bottom half. I love my dangling flowers at the top. Time for coffee....Glad to share my yesterday with you. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.

A chicken and a spider
Not anything to show for being creative... just not happening right now. It is not for a lack of things to create, it is just me myself and I not interested at the moment. Soon.....
How about an update on dear friends Don and Glenda... Don is doing well at the moment as is Glenda but please continue to keep them in your thoughts. Okay, time to get back out to the lanai and listen to Sarah Brightman.... Alan hooked up Dennis' electronics so we have music out there...next will be the TV. Thank you for visiting and for your kind words.... thank you for your friendship.

The week that was....
Today is the departure day for The Brother Alan and Lisa. A lot has been accomplished and a few hiccups along the way.... nothing that adjustments can not help.
Look at my Plumeria...the "arm" has sprouted leaves! I have high hopes for this plant. I am hoping the Garden Faeries will kiss this plant for me. I had to move it with all the changes for the Pond Garden... and it seems to be liking this spot and having the irrigation added.
The Pond garden is still a work in progress..... Yesterday Alan painted the wrought iron planter a turquoise color that Lisa wanted. I had Alan put the ladder back there and then I mention earlier to Lisa about moving the sun to the area and Alan did. I need to work on the planting...needs something more and I will work on it before the heat of the summer does arrive. This morning I watched as a hummingbird took a shower then a bath in the fountain! Not wanting to startle him, I did not rush to get the camera. That makes it all worth the work.
Yesterday Dianna and Bobby finally got to meet Alan and Lisa! Every time Alan is here, they are away. We had a nice lunch sitting out in the lanai. It was simple; Italian antipasto, tossed salad, various add-ins, fresh bread for sandwiches (store bought) and cantaloupe wrapped in prosciutto as well as plain and strawberries followed by custard pie.
Today is sis Lynowl's birthday. Of course with all goings on this week, the package is still sitting on the sidebar in the kitchen! I will make it to the post office today for sure. I did not want to mail it too early because she would have opened it before today and now it will be late.
It has been nice chatting with you but my coffee awaits. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.

A star for February
Having all the fabric cut and ready to press and fold is great. I hope to have each month's star made within the first few days of each month. This being a short month I would like to enjoy this on display for the entire month. After this it will be added to my metal display which coincidently has12 hooks.
Amazing how much more paperwork I filled out yesterday for the upcoming surgery. First there was the paperwork to update my old file with the surgeon and now the pre-op stuff...yes I have the date...Monday the 11th but no time yet. So it was important to get this finished as well as the earrings because use of the right hand will be limited for a time. I do have a few books waiting to be read and friend Robyn has one for me to borrow. Not sure about the typing, so the blog
We are having a cloudy day today with rain possible in a few days. Temps are not too bad...around mid 60s. It is sad to read how the monsoon and flooding are hitting Australia and the Arctic cold is making it impossible for sections of the USA.
This week I will get the lanai cleaned and ready so I can sit out there weather permitting and read. The winds have brought in many leaves and lots of dust. One of these days I will eliminate the leaves with having it screened in! I will be going to friends house later today...details to follow tomorrow! Glad that we had a chat today. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.

Changes......
The new fridge finally arrived on Saturday
We need a little tweaking but it is in. Now I can refill with food. We did not starve by any means as we ate out several times … Alan did cook twice!
I had mentioned to The Brother that I thought moving the desk in to the living room (plenty of room) might be nice and as he agreed the move of furniture began. You know me, it will involve more than just one item.
The curio first then the bookcase oh and then the two bookcases had to move and finally the desk was in place. Alan then moved the computer to the table behind the desk and we now have it all set, an open office space. This then opened an area in the large kitchen/dining area. When I talked to them about this furniture move I mentioned my next idea which would eventually mean a new dining set and ….before long it was ordered
And it arrived Tuesday morning not long before they left. The work island will arrive soon and will be on the opposite side of the kitchen. Eventually a rug will be under the table area.
Did I mention that the pond is working again?
Getting right in there and giving it a good cleaning. The wildlife is happy to have it back and the resident bunny is too. The bunny is living under the grass to the right of Alan next to the pond. I have not seen the second bunny....so maybe it is just the one...hope it is just the one and not a warren starting.
Well, I did not do any beading so I will get back to finishing my Rose Star soon. Glad you stopped by for a visit and I will be around to visit with you soon. thank you for the kind words and for your friendship....
****DebbieB....I loved the card you sent! We will return to our daily emails real soon!

Mid week doings
The alien Snail Vine continues to grow and bloom. The center is now almost 3 feet deep from the top of the arbor. It is beautiful. The tomato plant is about ready to leave the garden. The new bush is blooming nicely
The petals of the blooms have a red hue to them. Inside are the seeds. I have added a little fencing around it for the time being to coral the spread and encourage it to grow upward stronger. Listen to me, I sound like I know what I am doing! Actually I am trying to give room to the plants around it.
I checked the "clock nest"
Not sure what these Doves are doing and it is obvious to me that they do not know what they are doing. I will remove it by the end of the week if there is no activity.
Today is re-arrange a few chairs...what is out front to the back and what is in the back to the front and then to wash the lanai floor ..... still have the corner computer desk unit to get out of the lanai. I figured that I can safely move it out using the dolly that I have. It is one of those flat bed type. Trash pick-up is Friday so if it is out there when people tend to check out what is being tossed, it may have a new home. Honey (AKA Keith) stopped by to adjust my computer settings. Every time there is an update things change. I watch and learn and one of these days I will not have to bother him for help.
The Brother Alan is once again living with another winter storm along the East Coast. I have a package to mail to sis Lynowl but once again I will wait due to the storm and mail delivery issues that comes along with it. Keeping busy is essential for me today. Thank you dear friend Debbie for the special message this morning. Debbie and I email everyday---- long distance friendship.
Time to do the chores. The Fairy Maids are still missing and by the notes, many of your fairies are missing too! Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words and most of all your friendship.

Starting the day
I mentioned to The Brother Alan that I wanted to change the furniture on the lanai. So we did order a grouping from Lowes.
The settee and table along with a pair of chairs. When it was delivered all but one of the back cushions were messed up. They were pack so tightly that they were misshaped. After a few calls a delivery to my home from Lowes with 3 new cushions. Great customer service. The lanai is due for a change and this is the start. I would like to remove a few other things form the lanai but definitely need help. I would like to move the shelves but Buddy the Hummer (Dennis named him that ) likes to sit on the branch in one of the vases.....need to think about this. I have a corner unit that needs to go and chairs from the front that need to come to the back and chairs form the back that need to go to the front....I am exhausted thinking about it! For now this will do.
Also while The Brother Alan was here we changed out the Cox cable boxes....something else for me to adjust to. Really, I have talked out loud to the TV before but now it does what I ask! The phone so far has been easier than I thought. Not having a house phone is easier than I thought. I only looked for it twice. Now I need to remember to give me new phone number to various people and change it at the medical offices. So far these past few months I have moved forward with Skyping, talking to the TV remote, now texting...what next??? I feel that I have been adjusting fairly well. I know that I still have a way to go. I am doing the best that I can and as I feel I can.
I have sent a message to Honey (AKA Keith) my computer is a bit off kilter....photos, the mouse and a few other things. He is such an angel. He is a gentle soul who always has a smile.
Well friends, I think I should at least get a couple of things done around here. The House Fairy did not show up today. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship. Have a great day.

The Umbrella mystery solved
If the Goldfinch has anything to say, the red umbrella although faded but not going to trash, will be destroyed in no time~~~~
Do you see all the strings hanging along the edge? This appears on more than one place around the umbrella. I had been curious as to how this was happening. I happened to catch this guy pulling at them! I first I thought he was falling off the umbrella but then I saw him tugging away. Just what I need, Goldfinches!
The mail arrived and so did this
A lovely note card and a hand painted canvas of a feather, (She found this at a craft fair.) Jo
http://serendipitousstitching.blogspot.com/ sent me such caring words and the card has a sweet poem on the backside. In Jo's note she wrote, "the belief is that if you see a white feather it means someone in Heaven is watching over you". I now feel that she is also watching and caring. I value our friendship too dear friend.
I sat outside yesterday morning with my coffee and before I knew what was happening I began to clean and rearrange the lanai. All because as I sat listening to Michael Crawford, the sound of the waterfall and sipping the coffee, I thought about painting the shelves and removing 2 of them to use in the house. One thing led to another and I was washing the floor and moving things around. Well, now at least if I have the comfy weather it is clean and waiting. I thought about taking away the vases with the twigs but the little hummer came in and out and I thought better not...
as soon as I finished and came inside to clean up he appeared on his twig. So, it will remain on the shelf for his pleasure....and mine. Just a little thing but it makes my day to see him in the lanai resting out of the elements.
This week I should think about a few ornaments to make and tat more Denny's Angels. I will be sending them to friends and then will try to send if someone asks. Guess I should try to accomplish a few things around the house. Always a pleasure to chat with you and I thank you for your kind words and friendship. Let's have a good day.

Monday finally became Saturday
so, from the green artificial carpet original to the lanai, to cement to epoxy....what a difference. It will be easier to keep clean and looks so much nicer. Our lanai is open on one side and sliders open onto it from our bedroom and the kitchen/dining area. A long 3 weeks, but I will call it done.
While all this has been going on, it was a good Monday for me and the lanai, but not for Boston. I followed the news and shed my tears. The climax unfolded last night and cheers rose. Now Boston can begin to heal. Texas is still trying to pick up the pieces. And I thought my lanai problems were something to complain about.
I worked on my Hardanger piece and feel good to say the stitching is complete! I have no picture yet, I thought, no one want to see this wrinkled piece yet again. So, I will stitch my edge, trim away the fabric, gently wash it and press it before I show it to you. I am so proud of it. Mr H praised my patience with the stitching and how lovely it is and that certainly makes me feel good. I have a short shift today and some food shopping to do but then I can work on this. The other day I stressed over my sewing machine... it again was not sounding well. Mr H told me to go and get another as this one is just about 30 years old. I really like this machine and it has served me faithfully with never a need for repair in all this time. So, I decided to investigate the noise and I took the top screws off and looked inside. I really could not see anything and when I manipulated the wheel, there was no sound. I took it and turned it upside down and nothing fell out. I put the top back on and tried it, and no noise! Did I fix it? It seems to be fine, but we will see when I next sew with it.
I can only say that I am happy this week is finally over in so many ways. I hope you day is grand...and thank you for stopping by.....these lovely daffodils have graced my dining table this week bringing me sunshine...
PS....the Mr and Mrs Quail are still warming the eggs....any day now I think we will see babies....

Monday is a good day? we can only hope
In the meantime, I sat outside yesterday morning to stitch with this little one for company...
he/she took a moment to respond to my call. Then promptly returned to munching.
I finished the second tier of wraps...
Now on to the outside tier....I know, I should press it, but because I hold it in my hands to stitch, it just gets so wrinkled again. I do not like to press over the strands of threads that are not wrapped. I have enjoyed this project even though it is so large. It will look nice on my table.
There is no news for Mrs Quail who still is minding the nest with the Mister. I always know when they are switching places... they call out to each other. Well, guess that is all for now. I welcome a new friend who just happens to be from my home state of Rhode Island! Thank you all for your kind words and email.... I do try to respond to each one. Hope you have a good day.

5 down and more to go...
this area is a double of the first section in that the cut area is 2 in a row where the first tier had one area...It should move easily as it is a repeat of what I did, but amazing as it is, it is taking me time.
I still am trying to decide how I want to finish this...
yes, it is blurred a bit...don't want to give it away just yet as this is an exchange piece. I think I know what I want to do, I think I have the piece of fabric, and I think it may be complete tomorrow. But you still will not get to see it until after May 25th.... that is when I mail it out to******* and yes you will have to wait for the name too. See, I can be a brat!
Tha lanai is still in process.... now they have to order more color and figure a way to repair what is not working...
see the "divot"? It is not suppose to be like that...and there are many more across the floor as well as a few other issues. I love the color, but not the finish at this point. Mr H spoke with the owner yesterday. It is obvious they are not getting paid until I am satisfied with the job and at this time, I am quite unhappy. I have a few notes written down and when the job is complete I will be sending them a letter. Depending on all of that, is whether I send it also to the BBB. I can be someone to recon with when I am upset. In the meantime, there are cushions still in the kitchen, furniture and plants in the garage and the yard has furniture here and there. Truly a mess. A job that should have been completed in 3 days is not going on the second week.
Plans for today include a shopping trip to Desert Ridge in Scottsdale..... shopping is good for the mind! Hope you have a good day.....

Don't want to talk about it
In the meantime, I have been working on my Hardanger and a few other projects...no pictures today... to stressed with the other project.... Welcome to a new follower and as always thanks to all of you for the kind words sand emails.... lastly, a Mrs Quail report..... they are both tending to the nest. The change of shift happens quickly and with much noise. I am off now to take something to prevent the headache from developing. Hope you have a good day...

Hardanger and the Lanai
In the meantime, I finished the first tier of Woven Bars....
and I am pleased.... I have enjoyed this part of the project.
The Doves eyes are not perfect, but they are not my favorite stitch. When I press this piece later I am sure they will be okay. Today I will begin the second tier which are a little larger in size. By the time I complete the outside edge the Doves eyes should be near perfect.
I really appreciate the kind words and email.... you make my day. I hope your day wonderful. I am off to the living room to have a cup of coffee and wait....maybe wrap bars too.
Wednesday, April 10, 2013
Maybe today...
I have no stitch pictures, but I am on the last bar wrapping of the section that I call tier one of my Hardanger.... pictures tomorrow. I have a few more stitches to do on my BBD piece and then will decide how to finish it.... of course you can not see it yet. I picked up some craft netting... I want to try Netting embroidery. You would think that I have enough to keep me busy! I think I need to slow down my mind..... too many things going on there and holding up my hands from doing them. I have the rest of the week off so I plan to be busy and thought why not try this new form needlework.
I thought I would show you another picture from the Rose Show...
The way that some show off their entries for the judging. These beauties were framed on velvet showing 3 roses in progression of opening. My favorite roses are yellow.... and these were lovely. Tomorrow I will post another for you. In the meantime, I must get dressed and ready for the guys coming to work on the patio. I do not think being in my pajamas is a good way to greet them. Cute when you are 6, not so cute when you are 66! Have a great day and thanks for visiting with me today.
