A chicken and a spider

The weather has been absolutely wonderful...sit outside with morning coffee and sliders open all day. I know…. in other parts of the country it is cold and dreary.... but this is why I moved here.
Do you see her? A patchwork chicken in the kitchen garden! Of course the show stopper is the Mr Lincoln rose bush...just look at all the blooms. The fragrance is wonderful. In the top picture is the chive and basil pot, the bottom is the tomato that is growing very strong and soon will need a support. There are flowers already. All in all it is growing well and we have been able to use the herbs in cooking.
Look carefully....I did not see it when I took the picture but there is an ugly spider in the rose! He can remain as long as he keeps the bugs away!
Not anything to show for being creative... just not happening right now.  It is not for a lack of things to create, it is just me myself and I not interested at the moment. Soon.....
How about an update on dear friends Don and Glenda... Don is doing well at the moment as is Glenda but please continue to keep them in your thoughts. Okay, time to get back out to the lanai and listen to Sarah Brightman.... Alan hooked up Dennis' electronics so we have music out there...next will be the TV. Thank you for visiting and for your kind words.... thank you for your friendship.

One taco ready....

For now one slider is open... but any minute it will again close. Starting the day with temps at 86 climbing to 104-ish. There is swishing in the laundry area and the shark is waiting to swim….me? well I am working to keep my day going. I can remember when I used to get these posts written by 4am! now, well let's just say I have slowed a bit.
Yesterday found me beading...
A Christmas Silver and Green Pod..... one "taco" complete. Someone in the beading world has named each section a taco! Took me all day to bead as I had to rest the eyes and the hand. Actually there is no time limit on this... yet. It is not easy getting a picture of this as this silver is quite bright. Definitely will sparkle  on the tree.
I did plan to make bread yesterday but that did not happen so maybe today is the day. Other than that no plans for the weekend. I was awake early enough to go into the garden to sweep the debris, but the comfort of my bed was too nice. Going out to work in the garden is not for me. The Pond Garden is "wet" again... I am trying to ignore it. Still waiting for the landscaper to stop by for a follow up. There is a faucet at the edge of the garden...wondering if that could be the issue? I should rake some of the rocks away and see if... or I could ignore it for now. Frustrating when you cannot do what seems to be simple. Time for eye 👀drops and another cup of coffee... think I will make it an iced coffee.
I hope you all have a delightful weekend. Thank you for visiting and for your kind words. Most of all, thank you for your friendship.
Floating around my mind this morning........

Movies and floss

Tuesday was a hot day .. a reminder of what is yet to arrive. Today is starting at 75 and going to the triple digits. Monsoon begins the 15th so we know the winds, Haboobs and rains will begin. The AC kept me comfortable while in the house. The one errand I ran to the Hyundai dealership...a wasted hour... was all I did. Part is on order and waiting to return. I decided to do some "cleaning out" of a closet shelf. I found some letters and cards from when I first moved here! All had lovely notes in them, so of course I reread them and some brought smiles and a few even tears. By the time I finished I was feeling overwhelmed. That task is now complete. Next will be to go through the many movies and CDs that Denny had. I have my favorites so those I will keep.
This shelf has a double row of movies, some are sets like the Bruce Lee box set.

These two shelves ae CDs.. about  200+
These shelves have DVDs.... the top shelf is double row and as you can see, some are sets. The bottom shelf are Disney DVDs... and other movies...Denny was a movie buff. Does anyone still watch movies and listen to CDs besides me?
Still have much to do about closet/garage/storage organizing. My goal is to completely empty one of the large garage storage units. I need to get to Lowes to add to my wall rack in the garage. Later today I plan to get at the floss... remember the boxes of floss?
This is what the inside of those colorful boxes looks like. All the floss is in numerical order, in individual floss bags, on a large ring and kept by category number... for example: all the 100s, the 500s and so forth are together. Always able to find what I need. Since I am not doing any (at this time) cross stich, I will be de-stashing all these, all 5 boxes. A good sit by the TV  in the cool of the house and pick what I want to keep. Unlike sorting the letters/cards this should go quickly... no nostalgia here. I have a few months to get organized.
That is about it... I am taking a mental health day.....
Glad you stopped by. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.

A slow start to my day

It is expected to be a hot day again, around 109 so indoors is the place to be. Shortly I will get out to water a few of the potted plants and that will be it. I have a few Denny's Angels getting finished today. Yesterday was the Day of the Bees
this was just a few of them. At one point you could not see the bottom of the feeder! It was so bad that the hummers could not feed. The bees managed to drink a full cup of nectar in a couple of hours. I read on line that you should remove the feeder for a few days and they will forget where to return(?) The feeder is down. Someone also suggested to rub Vaseline on the feeder....not heard that one before. I have had feeders in our yard for 13 years and never before had this issue. This morning a few are hovering around the area then flying off. It is not like there are no nectar producing bushes in the yard.
Thank you for wishing The Brother Alan a happy birthday and the nice comments on the picture I added to the sidebar. Did I mention he will be here on September 19th? I must share this...I had read sometime ago that using auto window wash for the outside of the house windows will do the job. Well, the other day I did...I washed 3 windows and it was super easy and quick. I do need to get a new squeegee though. I have the 2 sliders and the kitchen window left to do. This has been another of my firsts...that's right Denny did the windows.  Slowly the first of this and that will be gone. Oh no, I just looked up and the hummer is at the window looking for the feeder! I will not break down and put it up...no no no. There is another feeder across the yard and out front.
The Origami Cranes have moved into another window and the Black Crow followed as did the Ballerinas. All part of moving things around.
changes (plural noun) the act or instance of making or becoming different
Some changes are necessary in life, some are just good. Yesterday I decided to move and rearrange the DVDs and CDs that we I have. Denny was an avid movie fan and together we have many movies and lots of music. However, some of these I do not watch or listen to so it makes sense to me to keep what I do like together making it easier to find them. This is not to say that I will not watch or listen to what on the shelves, just not my favorites. I have not yet attempted to even use the Home Theater  set up. Instead, I am perfectly content with the TV set up. Still trying to learn how to get more than 4 radio stations! Well, that about covers what I have been up to and now to finish my coffee and after a few household chores I will tat angels. Thank you for the kind words and thank you for your friendship. Did I mention The Brother Alan will be here on September 19th?!

Coffee~Tea~ Hot Chocolate and K D Lang

A bit of experimenting this morning....dying fabric swatches~~~
this is with a strong cup of  Eight O'clock coffee and left for about an hour. I like the color and the scorch marks.....hated to waste my coffee but it had to be done. You can see the original bees fabric and the lovely difference.
Then we made a strong cup of Tetley tea...
Not bad color....but not quite right. This is why I always experiment before using all the fabric and time. Of course, there is no guarantee that it will turn out the same later when I do it for real. After this I decided to try Swiss Miss hot chocolate  which I had not tried before
not a bad shade but again, not what I would want with this project. It is always fun to try different foods. Do you ever use food for dying fabric? For each of these I left in the liquid for about hour swishing them periodically. Then a rinse in cold water briefly and into the microwave for a minute. Sometimes as with large pieces I use the clothes dryer and even the oven occasionally. Most important with the oven....check every few seconds or else! So, I guess the coffee dye will be the way to go.

The bee fabric is by Moda---design is Bee Creative by Deb Strain
So next will be to decide how to bag it! K D Lang ( Drag CD) in the back round is just so relaxing. Earlier I went out to water the garden and of course received 2 mosquito bites for my 5 minutes in the hot sun. Filled the birdbath and watched as the woodpecker made his daily visit to the hummingbird feeder. He looks so silly but I look forward to his visits. Meanwhile the hummer flits in and out to drink. Now I am off to sit and read my smocking book for a bit and then a little practice. You always make my day with your visits. Thank you for your friendship and kind words. Have a great day.
