Resting my feet

The weather here is still hot...and I do mean hot. At 8 PM last evening it was still 105 and the overnight was 90. Today may be around 109. Just too hot to trot my friends. But--- yesterday Glenda and I decided while having our morning coffee that we would go foot stool shopping.
 I knew that I did not want to try to find a new style and so off to antique shopping. Glenda spotted this gently used footstool and it is perfect!
Just the right height and size for my stitching chair and look.....
it opens with a storage area. It is in great condition and only needs some bees wax to clean it up and at this point I do not plan to recover the gently used padding. A good friend a good shopping time and a good find. What more can a gal ask for.
I have several Denny's Angels waiting for their halos then a starching so that is my goal this day and I really must make some Pizzelles...got to have my Pizzelles for the week. I have the air conditioning people coming at 7 AM to replace the circuit board in the unit and here it is 6 and greeting Brent in my pjs is not a pretty sight. So, as much as I would love to sit and chat I need to get dressed and ready for my visitor.  Thank you for the kind words that you send and for your wonderful friendship.
Tomorrow is September 1st...and that means only 18 more days to The Brother Alan arrival!

~~~and more from the cupboard
It has been so hot....again. What I mean is that we had those high triple digit temps then it cooled a little and now we are back in heat advisory with 110 temps. Really too hot to do anything outside. I may not be able to sit by the pond and listen to the waterfall that took so long to accomplish, but
sitting in my room in my comfy chair stitching, I can look out though the sliders and pass the lanai and see the pond and watch the occasional bird stop by.
I have started to add "things" around the pond edge and hopefully will soon be able to add some plants if this heat ever cools down.  All my hard work and help from Don, Dianna and Sherry really shows.
The same box that had the Star Wars ( Burger King, 1977) glasses had a few others
I have 2 of each of these: The Hamburgler and Ronald Action figures ( McDonald's, 1977) and the 50th Birthday Bugs Bunny glasses. Amazing how the gave these with a drink purchase....and glass not plastic. Not to be left out, Burger Chef issued
Endangered Species 1978 of which I also have 2 each. I checked on line with eBay and Etsy and these are selling for interesting amounts. The Star Wars ranged from $60.00 to $84 for the set of 4; McDonald Action series were around $5 to $7 each and Burger Chef for around $6 each.  Who knew?!
Tatting and tatting is what I have been doing. My aunt Angie would be proud that I finally learned to do this. I still have one that she made from the 1950/60s. Right now it is my preferred thing to do. I find it relaxing and easy to pick up and put down.  Later this morning I will be off to the Post Office to mail 2 packages and that will be the extent of my outdoor travels. Even though the car and stores are all air conditioned, it is still the effort to get there in this heat....walking from the car to place and place to car is like walking into a wall of heat. Smacks you right in the face.
It is so nice to have you stop by and thank you for the kind words and most of all your friendship. Counting the days ~~~~The Brother Alan will arrive September 19th.
The things you find in cupboards
Just when I think I know what it where in the garage I find something else. I found a Utility Pump...now that would have been ideal when I had to completely empty the pond! I thought we had one but I had not as yet cleaned the cupboards when I was working on the pond. Now it will be on the shelf where I can get to it for the next time. I did remember that I had a box with some drinking glasses. I have not yet emptied the upper cupboards so yesterday I poked into one and
here are 1977 McDonald  Burger King Star Wars glasses. Picture on one side and explanation on the back. There is Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker, R2D2 and C3-PO as well as Darth Vader. Then there were some wildlife glasses and Ronald himself and also
Wonder Girl and A&W Rootbeer little mugs. This was when free glasses with a drink were the thing...real glass not plastic. Wonder what else I will find the next time I climb up the ladder? I know there are a set of 12 Betty Boop plates in a box. All will need to wait until a cooler weather arrives. We are in a heat advisory again today. Yesterday hit 110 and the same for today. The yard needs a sweeping and the pond could use a vacuum, but not today. Out to water a few pots and that is it. So glad the watering system is  reconnected and working just fine.
I have a light headache to start the day and it is probably the weather but I will take something to help it disappear and just relax for a few hours. Still working on my tatted Denny's Angels...before I know it Christmas will be here and that was the idea behind making so many of these.
Thank you for stopping by today and for your kind words and for your friendship. I appreciate all of you and feel very lucky to have you in my life. Did you know that The Brother Alan will be arriving soon?
A slow start to my day
It is expected to be a hot day again, around 109 so indoors is the place to be. Shortly I will get out to water a few of the potted plants and that will be it. I have a few Denny's Angels getting finished today. Yesterday was the Day of the Bees
this was just a few of them. At one point you could not see the bottom of the feeder! It was so bad that the hummers could not feed. The bees managed to drink a full cup of nectar in a couple of hours. I read on line that you should remove the feeder for a few days and they will forget where to return(?) The feeder is down. Someone also suggested to rub Vaseline on the feeder....not heard that one before. I have had feeders in our yard for 13 years and never before had this issue. This morning a few are hovering around the area then flying off. It is not like there are no nectar producing bushes in the yard.
Thank you for wishing The Brother Alan a happy birthday and the nice comments on the picture I added to the sidebar. Did I mention he will be here on September 19th? I must share this...I had read sometime ago that using auto window wash for the outside of the house windows will do the job. Well, the other day I did...I washed 3 windows and it was super easy and quick. I do need to get a new squeegee though. I have the 2 sliders and the kitchen window left to do. This has been another of my firsts...that's right Denny did the windows.  Slowly the first of this and that will be gone. Oh no, I just looked up and the hummer is at the window looking for the feeder! I will not break down and put it up...no no no. There is another feeder across the yard and out front.
The Origami Cranes have moved into another window and the Black Crow followed as did the Ballerinas. All part of moving things around.
changes (plural noun) the act or instance of making or becoming different
Some changes are necessary in life, some are just good. Yesterday I decided to move and rearrange the DVDs and CDs that we I have. Denny was an avid movie fan and together we have many movies and lots of music. However, some of these I do not watch or listen to so it makes sense to me to keep what I do like together making it easier to find them. This is not to say that I will not watch or listen to what on the shelves, just not my favorites. I have not yet attempted to even use the Home Theater  set up. Instead, I am perfectly content with the TV set up. Still trying to learn how to get more than 4 radio stations! Well, that about covers what I have been up to and now to finish my coffee and after a few household chores I will tat angels. Thank you for the kind words and thank you for your friendship. Did I mention The Brother Alan will be here on September 19th?!
