Good news ----not so good news and the roof

Yesterday as I sat on the sofa reading the newspaper sipping my coffee, the roofers began their work. We asked to have the skylight in the living room removed, this I guess was the day. All of a sudden there was light poring in from the ceiling and a hand drops down! I got up to look.....

this is who belonged to that hand. I was glad I had dressed already! The work continued and finally the opening is covered and shingles in place. I have to admit that it was rather noisy up on the roof...I was glad to be off to work. On Monday Mr H and I returned to the doctor to get the results of my MRI and blood work. The good news; no cancer or auto-immune issues. The bad news is that he has no fix. He called a doctor who specializes in hand issues (not a surgeon) and he has agreed to see me. There are 2 options at the moment. First would be to cast my hand to make it immobile for one month followed by therapy, the second is extensive therapy to try to eliminate the mass that is there.  I am opting for the therapy. In the meantime, my doctor has put me on release from work for one month so that I can rest the hand. He expects me to not to use the hand.... I cannot think of not stitching! Red is so close to finishing----- maybe a few stitches here and there..... that about tells my story. Up on the roof~~~~~~

"Up on the roof, its peaceful as can be"-------not! Definitely not the Drifters up there today! The roofing guys hare scraping down to the plywood and it sounds like they will be joining me soon for coffee in the living room. I have removed anything that might jar loose from the walls during this project. Not taking any chances that they will fall and break or cause damage to what is below. They will probably be up there all week next. Yesterday I went for the MRI...45 minutes in that machine.... ending with a dull headache and a sore left elbow from the IV and more blood drawn. Nice ladies who did the testing. Definitely no stitching when I came home. Off to work today....speaking of that...

yes, Esther was at it again. That women knows just what books to put in front of me! Now let's face it, I will never get to learn most of what these books hold. But....I will enjoy looking and reading the how tos of it all.  My library is continually growing. Mr H will not be pleased when I tell him I am running out of space! again! I do love having good books around me....those to read and those to drool over. This is a short post today....I can not hear myself think or type with the noise going on above me.....glad to chat even for a brief time. Have a good day.

She will be called Ruby

A partly cloudy day so far but still warm. It is 6 AM and the temp is 84 and might reach 111 by day end. Our community roofing project is still ongoing. I am amazed that these people can be up on the roof in high temps for hours. They begin around 5ish and end their day around 1 PM.


Dressed in long sleeve shirts, long pants and work boots as well as gloves----- just have to sweat for them. My plans are to stay hydrated and as cool as possible. They may reach my house sometime next week. Lot of work----rip up the shingles and tar paper, sweep and clean before laying out new tar paper then the new shingles. Did I mention that they have lots of tools with them? They have a wheel barrow on the roof with them! I thought it would be a noisy time with so many people working but surprisingly there is little noise.
My hexi project is complete....

I formed it into a pincushion and added beads to the top, of course. One of the gals at my monthly stitch group thought they looked like a spider ( and they do, sort of) and found one "leg" to be shorter than the rest so I maned it Ruby after her! Oh, no, not because she has a leg problem, just because!!!!! I did enjoy the process and know that the next hexis will be much better.  Some of us in the group are starting a new project.....

first you paint a back round, then you stitch a scene. I am combining 2 pictures into one for a meadow. It is a layering type of stitching starting with the back and working to the front. I plan to frame it when it is finished. So far I like how it is looking. Lots of possibilities with this. Oh...... my stomach is rumbling so I best find breakfast. Glad you could stop in today.
