More mail and 19 years later....

The morning is starting out a bit chilly---- temp is 57 but should rise to around 84 today. In the meantime, I had to put my cotton robe on! I am off today and hope to spend time working on an old project. First let me show you what arrived yesterday...

my latest RR piece from Michelle from Stitch Craft Place in the UK. This just might make for a pretty pillow finish....and the fabric she sent would be perfect for it. Do stop by and visit her lovely blog. Michelle enjoys knitting and crochet as well as cross stitch. I have to do the final finish on 3 ornaments...and soon as one must be sent by November 24th. I forgot to take a picture of the tatted ornament that I made for  my co-worker Rindell...it really looked nice and she was pleased.
I want to tell you about the "old piece" that I will be working on. First, here is a picture ...

This is my sweet niece Elyssa taken in October 1995.In the back round you can see a pattern.....Elyssa is working on a stitched piece of her own. She spent a lot of time with Mr H and me and when I stitched, she did also. Her age here is 2 1/2 years old......here is the little girl now...

Oh my...with Elyssa is Joe and their adorable little Natalia Rose who is 7 months old.  Do I feel old today....you bet I do! I have not meet my great niece yet, but I just think she is a doll. Every time they post a picture, I immediately download into my Natalia file....a few are printed out and displayed.

Here is the Santa as it is..... and it will be finished in time for this Christmas even though it is 19 years late! You may ask why it never was finished..... hard to really give you an answer. One day I just looked at it and did not want to work on it anymore. In those days I would work on only one project at a time and this had so much going on that I tired of it. Then one day I decided to work on it (years later) but could not find the pattern. Do the linen was put away. Some years past and I found the pattern but could not remember which box had the stitchery...so...you get the idea. I then thought this piece was not meant to be. It is now! ----- never too late is it? So that is my story for the day...glad you were here to listen....than you as always for the kind words and friendship...have a wonderful day.

Snails and mail

Our Arizona temps here in The Valley have certainly dropped...cooler and very nice. It also means that certain plants will once again thrive and bllom....

This is the first time that Mr H and I have seen the hummer tasting the Snail Vine..... just look at all the snails in bloom. Of course once he was tired of hoovering  around them, he return to one of his perches...

what a delight he is. So tiny that he can sit on this thin tiny twig . Mr H used to trim all of them off, but now we leave several for him to sit on around the yard. I had a very lazy day yesterday...no ambition to do any stitching or tatting. Even Mr H commented that He doesn't often see me without a needle in my hand.  I told myself that it was okay to do nothing. Today however is work....
Mail arrived as usual yesterday and again something for me!

Patty from pccrafty made the above needle case...and I was one of the lucky recipients ....I added a ribbon and a favorite old button from one of my button jars.....I will enjoy using it. Patty and I met when I first stated to blog---- she was looking for an eyeglass case pattern and I had one that I was never going to stitch.... and you know what happened next. Blogging friends are a special group. Yesterday during one of my ambitious moments, I set up my first PT appointment----- next Monday and the first injection will be on the Thursday. Keeping positive thoughts. In the meantime, I think I will return to my comfy spot on the daybed in the sewing room and watch a little TV.... definitely not the news.... tired of the political stuff.  Thank you for all the kind words and that you find time to spend with me. Today I think I will tat

Today is All Soul's Day....when I was a child I was told that on November 2nd the souls of our dearly departed would revisit their homes and roam the earth....now I tell you, that did put a bit of concern in my mind! People left a candle lit to help them find their way. Not me, I did not want anyone dead visiting with me!   The other news for today is that it is Daylight Savings Time ----- except for us here in Arizona. We do not move time around....but if you do, now we are only 2 hours apart but still many miles! I finished my RR piece and it will be off in the mail on Monday. It is heading to Michelle in the UK and she tells me that there may be a mail strike?! I think I have stitched all the ornaments that were on my list to be sent off....now to finish them. Now I have time to work on a few others. Mr H found this little critter...

a cute owl....he is fashioned from artificial greenery and sticks and pine cones. Something new to add to the tree this year. I am working on a tatted wreath for a co-worker. I needed to take a day out because of my knee and she took the shift without hesitation. I offered to buy some fabric as she is a wonderful sewer, but she said no. When I pressed the issue of what I could do for her,

"I would like one of your tatted ornaments" so of course that is what I am doing. Just the beginning, but it will be ready for her Christmas tree-----hope she doesn't put it up yet! The Debra and I will be at Jo Ann's today for the last of our free tatting lessons. As of January they will be on the list of classes offered at Jo Ann's. The Debra will be teaching with me to help. It is the first time being offered at our store.... hope it goes well. Easy to encourage when it is for free! The weather is starting out cloudy and quite breezy; the chimes are singing both out front and in the back yard. Temps have cooled down too. It is just 63 now and expected to be around the low 70's today....big change but welcomed. Now I must be off because I am getting hungry....glad we had time to chat and I do hope you have a great day.
