Moving along...slowly

 Well my friends, on Thursday Alan took me to have the stitches removed.....area was cleaned and steri strips applied. Still have common sense limits. 

Two incisions; the one to open the heel is about 2 inches and the one on the calf is about 3 inches. The heel really still aches a lot. I have multiple bruises along the leg from the knee to the heel. Still small areas where it is swollen. I am so thankful having Alan and Lisa here as they keep me in check.... and bring me coffee. Therapy will be in a few weeks. It is a slow healing process.

She is not quite finished...embellishments. Enjoying these Tiny Doll projects. What it has done is provided therapy for my right hand. The fingers are more flexible with the hand stitching. The middle finger will never be 100% but it works.... no, not in that way, it sews okay! 

Our weather has been crazy...we are having 90s days. Now a weather change for next week back to 70s and 80s. 

NOTE: Lisa just wheeled in my walker from where I left it in the kitchen....oops. Anyway, I am really taking it easier than I did before. I need this surgery to heal well and be really mobile again. So for the moment off I go to finishing my coffee and then......

Not much happening around here

I guess what they, who ever they are, say is true....the older we get the more difficult it can be to heal or in my case "feel better" quickly. The cold symptoms have really all but disappeared, but a migraine that is lingering this past week is another story. Today seems to be a better day and I will be off work until Tuesday. My work schedule has been light, only a couple of days. I plan to relax and push away any stress that may try to creep in.  Recently I am experiencing some blurred vision. All of this has made cross stitching a little stressful. Guess it is time to have it checked out. It comes and goes but it is worrying me. I managed to put a few x's in on Red but not enough that you would notice. I did make a pin cushion...

I grabbed some wool felt from my bin and cut out a simple pattern and then put it all together in applique. I am pleased with the finished piece. A bit "folksy" I would say. Our Arizona temperatures have reached the triple digit mark so I guess it will be onward and upward from here on out. Temps for today should be around 90....it is already 74 and just about 7:30 AM. The air is still, not even a little breeze out there. Laundry is almost finished, need a breakfast and then on to some stitching---- I hope, as I said, when my eyes are blurry it is not the best time to stitch on 28 count linen. So glad yesterday is gone. The morning started out okay. Lazy and quiet. Then I decided to post here and that is when it started. The monitor would not turn on. This has happened a few times and the Geek guys told me to shut down and unplug it from the tower and power source, wait and then plug it all back in. Not what I want to do but it has worked except this time. The monitor was 3 years and 1 week old and still with warranty. So off to Best Buy and they offered me a replacement. The model was not available so Mr H chose another Samsung and home we came. Did I ever tell you Mr H is a saint? He is...so patient with me. Hooking it all up we discovered the DVI---- HD or whatever connection was not compatible. Back to Best Buy thinking we needed to get a different model. No, just a new cable. They did not have it but another near by store did. Off to the next BB and $30+ later we are back home. Hooked up but the monitor would not come on. Back to BB because  a) they could not explain this over the phone,  b) Mr H, who has set up many electronic devices could not understand what they were explaining,  c) to have a Geek come to the house would take 4-5 days and $50.00. The Geek Gal at first was "lost" then "found" and back home again this time it works! A slight problem, getting the adjustments right...adapting to a new look... Anyway, it is a work day but before all that happens I would like to show you....

the first time using the Angelina fibers.... next time I will be braver and press more into a fabric and the overall technique will be better..... all in all I am pleased with it. The next bug on my list is a dragonfly.... Eventually I would like to try Goldwork and more Stumpwork. I just want to try everything! I really must start wearing blinders so I will not be tempted. I must leave now. I am making my Jo Ann's shopping list of this and that supplies. I am enjoying my 2 days a week for as long as it lasts. More time to do this and that! A bloom for Elizabeth

Spent time stitching yesterday.....

more to go, but so far so good. This is the piece of 28 ct that I dyed and I am pleased with the stitching on it. Even though I bought this design because I liked it, I wasn't sure I would like to stitch in one color especially white. We get into the track of doing the same type of stitching sometimes and never try anything else. Glad Mr H saw this at The Attic on display. Oh I must tell you....Vicki left a comment and thought from my posting about The Attic and reading that I lived in Arizona.... well one email led to another and we live about 5 minutes from one another! A small world after all! She shops at Jo Ann's (doesn't everyone) and thought my photo of me on the blog looked familiar.....hope her next visit to JAS I am there so we can really say hello. I love our blog friendships. I also spent time with Elizabeth....

bloom and leaves.... I plan.... key word plan, to continue working the design on each row as I go along. There is the thistle and small border and the bloom row. Most of you would probably do one row at a time, right? I just want to see it come alive as I go. Also, it will hopefully allow for accuracy in counting. At this point I have stitched with all the colors...looking mighty pretty. Again, I am in no hurry to stitch this. Actually I am never in a rush with my stitching. I enjoy the projects too much to rush with them. I have been thinking about which ornaments for Christmas I want to stitch. That in itself is pleasant, spending time going over each Christmas magazine in my files..... changing my mind each time. Isn't that what we do?! It is hard sometimes to think about Christmas stitching when the temps are in the triple digits. I really do not do much Halloween/Fall designs unless it is or an exchange. Is anyone interested in doing a Halloween exchange? You know, Trick and Treat. Well, my friends it is time to have that second cup of coffee and bring in the newspaper. So glad we had time to visit. It is just so quiet....the only sound is the ticking of the clock's pendulum. It just struck 5 (am). The morning newspaper has not yet arrived and I have not had my cup of coffee. well, her skirt. I have am ready to turn the bottom left corner. The colors are so pretty and I love working with these Gloriana silk threads. While it is quiet and little to distract me, I will  continue to work on her skirt. First, I must have some coffee and breakfast. Not a good morning...

Besides being hot outside I woke with a headache...not a very bad one, but enough to be annoying. But I do not think you really want to hear my woe....how about....

This is a gift I made for Debra. She mentioned that she did not have a display for her scissors so I looked for one of the dishes that many of us have.... they are not easy to come by out here. These are ...candle stick holders! I looked at them and figured they could work upside down and they did. I made a pin cushion and a counting pin with a few purchased roses.... I have not made mine up yet.
Debra made time for me and helped me with my beaded snowflake. So far it is looking very nice. We have discovered that we are kindred spirits...our new friendship feels like it has been forever. Debra brought me a very lovely gift... will show you later. I was so touched.
