A good month

Can you believe but this is the last of August. The days have flown by. Arizona has been in a heat advisory and it does not look to end soon. Monsoon officially ends on September 15th.

This little guy has kept me on my toes. He investigates gets into everything. Last night it was my craft cart.  Upset because he could not have the roll of toilet paper or the decorations on my tree....Sammy wants everything.
He had a busy day the past Wednesday.  We, Sammy. Lisa and I, went to the pet store to buy him shoes as he lost one of his socks. He had no problems wearing or walking in the shoes. The guys in the store could not believe how cute he is and took a picture of him wearing his shoes.

Then it was to the vet. Sammy is now 10 pounds of energy. He made friends with all the techs and the doctors. You could hear them laughing and gushing over him. Of course Sammy was only to happy to be held and give kisses.

I do not like pets in the market but we had to stop for dinner items so off to Fry's. He was so well behaved. This is how he rode in the shopping cart....taking it all in. Now before you think all my time is spent loving this pooch....I am busy with other things.
I am still crocheting the afghan for Natalia. The color is really a smoky lavender and white panels. This  is the first afghan pattern that I ever made.
Also crocheted a bee and some mice
Not fond of the grey one...might need to find it a new home. Also still with crocheting, I mad a floral wreath.
On my working cart is a fat cat in the works.

My dear friend Dianna has got me interested in baseball. We watch the Arizona Diamondbacks play from a distance, she at her home and me in mine....texting goes on. We live 10 miles apart (about 25 minute drive). I had stopped watching baseball years ago as I found it too long and boring. Now, the rules of play have changed and I don't mind following it again. Used to be the Yankees! After 20 years here in Arizona it is about time to follow the local teams....Diamondbacks/baseball and Cardinals/football. Guess that covers this past month. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words.

Side note: if anyone has pet insurance please share with me. We are looking to get it for Sammy.

Sad but happy

Thinking of you today on what would have been our 51st anniversary. Missing you as much as ever.

Today is also a special day... Lisa's birthday. We have so much fun when we venture out.
We always have the most fun shopping...Lisa is a great bag carrier! Then we go out for lunch and by the time we arrive back home we are exhausted from laughing. Forget going to the market...we a better at the mall. It is a wonder the sales clerks help us. We laugh a lot and shop right up and until the sale is being rung up.

It may be a sad day for me but a happy day having her in my life. Happy Birthday Lisa.

Sunday all day

The weather outside is frightful cooler than it has been. It is 95 and the forecast says 102 today. Better than the 110+ days.

Alan is off today and he is cleaning the lanai and garden area. Yes, as you can see in the photo, Murphy must remain inside and is not very happy. Anyway, he had an upset stomach earlier so for now he must stay where I can keep an eye on him. While The Brother Alan is taking care of his chores, I have swished and now it is fluffing in the laundry area. I also have re-organized my work table in preparation for a new project. I did make a couple of new angels. Same directions just different ribbon...
This is the folded ribbon one just in gold and red
This is the larger...just a bit so... in a different ribbon.

This is a larger and different style and ribbon. Since making this, I learned a better way and will try one later. I seem to be in an angel ornament kick this year. I may make a few beaded baubles again in Christmas colors. All gone from last year.

Yesterday Lisa and I went to JoAnn's for a few more travel pillows and when we arrived it was not allowing anyone in due to an electrical failure. So what are 2 gals to do while waiting? Right across the street is the Arrowhead Mall... of course we went there. Lisa had been looking for a jean skirt and we finally found one she liked and that fit nicely. Happy to visit with you but I must get the fluffing to fold and get ingredients in the bread machine. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.

Have you noticed...I seem to be able to get a post done later in the morning than before. So look for me later in the day!

He got mail!

We are still very hot...still 110+. I am looking forward to the cooler weather. Even the 90s sounds good. Yesterday I went for a haircut. I had not been since March then the virus arrived and once the salon opened again I was not ready. My hair was almost to my shoulder top! In this heat I was going crazy. The gal who did my hair is only working on Sundays due to her children being schooled at home still. A new cutter and I completely left it to her. I am so pleased with her skill. It is short again and with this heat will feel great. Of course if we are at the mall, then Lisa makes wants and I shop. We got great deals! I bought a weather proof 3/4 jacket. The tag said $99.00 and it was worth it especially when the register rang it up for $24.90! I did not know it was on sale. Most all we bought was on sale and we came home very happy.

Murphy got mail! He just loves mail and will drive us crazy until we give him junk mail or even envelopes.
My sister just had to send him a note! She has not met Murphy yet and still she loves him. One of these days when issues are more settled she will visit.
Two buddies having coffee outside this morning...it was a bit more comfortable sitting in the lanai. The Brother Alan has since left for work and Lisa will be going also.
Soon there will be swishing and fluffing in the laundry area...as soon as I get a move on.
Happy to have you visit with me. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.

The week that was......

and still is! I have been busy with that and this.....
yes, French Rose dangling in my bathroom window. Great light comes in this frosted small window so I do not like to block it but still need a bit of something. They gently move about.
So, What else has been going on? Alan is still working in the garden...
The other night we had heavy rain which of course flooded the old pond area. Yesterday morning, Alan began to break it apart … it is a cement deep bowl shape... so now there will be drainage. He was like a kid playing in the mud! Do you notice that his able assistant is not helping? That would be because Mr. Murphy was at the vet.
Murphy the baby is now a boy...yes, he had snipping done. He came home very groggy and still wrapped in my shirt (actually this is a shirt that Dennis wore that I wear around). They suggest that he come with something familiar.... he knows this shirt well and it had my scent. He did very well. However, last night he spent a lot of time trying to remove it and he was able to get to his incision. When the vet called me this morning I told her and she said bring him in. Now he has a larger halo so we shall see how it goes. When Murphy and I walk he tends to retrieve things...
He carried this small log home...it is about 7 inches and at least 3 inches round and a little heavy. Determination is powerful with him. Of course since he eats what he chews, it is now gone. Hopefully the snipping will calm him down. Oh, and we have to change his food. He gained weight, again. Now stands 14 inches and weighs 18 pounds. He definitely is not a true Mini!!! We love him anyway.
Since we chatted Lisa and I have been shopping...

We took our comedy routine to the mall. It will be a while before we venture out again. As we ( Murphy and me) left the house for a walk the other evening,
The heavy wrought iron door caught my heel.... still very painful for walking. Took a sliver of flesh. Minimal walking for the week while it heals. So, there you have it. At the moment Alan and Lisa are getting ready to go to a horse show, the oven is on self clean, there is swishing in the laundry area and Murphy is napping. Me? I am ready for another cup of coffee. Glad we could chat. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.

Another week gone by

Sometimes it seems that time really passes so quickly and then the other when it just hangs around. This past week was here for such a short time for me. The other day I began to move a shelf from one room to another and of course there were little holes in the wall. I ask Glenda and Don what I needed

to fix this issue and Don came and gave me a lesson in how to fill in the screw holes, how to lock in the drill bit and then drill the new holes for the shelf. Seeing Denny do this in the past does not mean I knew how to do it, now I
The Ladies now have moved and seem quite happy.
Now I have 2 other shelves to be hung and new holes to patch. You would think with all the screws that are in the garage I would have the 4 that I need...no, of course not. Off to Ace Hardware I will go for supplies.
Yesterday was the day to remove Denny form a few accounts and then to reestablish in my name. One of the places required that I go to the mall. Perfect I thought and I will go to Macy's to replace my Top Siders. Little did I know that Macy's no longer sell them in store only on line. But, I did find

Keds in a style like the Top Siders and so comfy and on sale which was a nice surprise. Off I ventured to see what else I could find and to my delight I actually got 2 shirts for free. I had to go through Sears to get to the car and there I saw a denim shirt that was on sale and when the gal rang it up there were "store points" that amounted to the sale price so = free. I was leaving but saw another top and the same thing happened. A good shopping trip indeed. Have I mentioned that The Brother Alan is arriving in 10 days?
We are in a cool down with the temps expected to be only 95 today and a 40% chance of rain. I am sure this comes at a price .... humidity. Today I hope to sit with Alice and make more progress. It is moving slowly with the current motif so if I can pass this one I know it will move on. Nice to chat with you today. Thank you for visiting and for the kind words. Most of all thank you for your friendship. The count down is 10 days.
So sorry for those in the path of the hurricanes and the other terrible weather related storms. No matter where we are there are weather issues that we must deal with. Keeping you all in my thoughts...stay safe.

Angels...an egg and shopping

I started out to get my eye glass prescription filled  (wish they were not as pricy as they are). Between the new frames for regular and sunglasses and the lenses, well I may have to return to work soon. Of course going to Dillard's did not help the checkbook.
When We entered Dillard's from the mall entrance, we travelled through the jewelry department and these silver and turquoise earrings just caught me eye. Long and dangly  and now mine. Then we walked to the handbag department. After all they did send me an email with lovely bags.... I love leather bags with a nice design element. This has nice pockets in and out and a touch of turquoise on the end. Then Mr H found some great shoes and once I tried them on, well they had to come home with me. Of course we did stop by See's candy to get a pound of assorted chocolates.....all in all it was a lovely shopping day and we will not discuss the total $$$$$ spent. Today is only a doctor appointment for me to get the first injection for my knee. No shopping today for me, it will be back home to rest the knee and stitch. I finished the Easter egg...
this is what it looked like before adding the plastic egg....like a giant star fish! I lightly starched it and then ...
Voila! I can not wait to make a few more....I may tat in a different thread color. Remember the angel from last week...I decided to tat it in a larger thread....
I think I should have made her dress smaller, but it did turn out nice. So I will make another to see....the larger size makes a nice size as an ornament. Maybe even add beads along the bottom. If my week long headache goes away, I will work on these projects. Not sure what has caused this but I have taken everything I can and the headache subsides just for a while. This has not happened to me in some time. It may actually be allergies with all the wind we have been having and me sitting outside is probably not the smartest thing. Speaking of outside....
I was taking pictures of some of the flowers and found myself standing just a foot away from the nest and was able to capture this...look at that staring eye. She never even flinched. I think the eggs will hatch next week.  Dennis is hoping that they will not make another nest once these babies arrive. I think they are going to become life long residents.  They are really no problem; they do not bother me at all. As for the flowers, I love my pansy's...

this is a small clay rectangular pot that is loving sitting in the shade under the gazeebo where I sit. When I was a little girl a neighbor used to call them the painted ladies of the garden so that is still how I think of them. My chair is right next to them so I can keep my eye on them. Guess you have had enough pictures for one visit....and I am glad you did stop by. Thank you for the kind words and for your friendship. Have a wonderful day.
This is on the opposite side of the planter....
