The week in review

Oh my goodness...the entire week has passed me by. Let me think; Mr H had physical therapy on Wednesday, not sure about Thursday and Friday or Saturday and Sunday, Mr H had physical therapy on Monday.....oh dear, do I have a problem!? Not really. The days have been uneventful but I did run errands and stitch and finish. I also found a way to keep my work clean while stitching.

I am using both ends of my Morgan hoop set. The 7 inch side is for my cross stitch angel and the needle punch is on the 10 inch end. I really am glad I bought this hoop set. So, I thought how can I keep it all clean. First on the 10 in side I have a clear plastic shower cap and on the 7 inch side a clear plastic bowl cover. Pretty good!

I started the angel over and changed the colors a little. I can remember a time when I would never have  changed colors...I have come a long way. Since I am not using the listed threads the suggested DMC were not entirely to my liking. I am pleased with my choice now. I also worked on my winter couple...

I am liking this also. I decided to use one thread (strand count) and feel it is looking quite nice. I even made the pom pom on his hat with longer loops...who knew I could! Adding some texture which I learned from Lori of Not Forgotten Farm fame. I find myself becoming very brave lately. I also made a stump work bee on a box...

Mr H painted the box for me. The bee is the same as the kit I have, almost. I lined the box with that fabulous bee print I found and tucked in a small bee inside. I do enjoy the process of stump work. I wanted to practice the bee before making it on the silk dupioni and using the pearl purl gold piece. I added some painted spots to the muslin back round and voila! a bee on a box. We had some rain which is cause for celebration but I think that is why I have a headache this morning. We seem to be getting a little each day which is good. Now, if the temps would just start to get cooler I would be so happy. I guess that is about it. Coming soon~~~~~

I just do not know where all the days go. August already! For most it signifies the end of summer. For me I think that soon the temps will be more comfortable and once again I will be sitting outside. I miss my mornings out on the front porch with my coffee and needle in hand. Soon, coming soon to my neighborhood. In the meantime the air is on and I am comfortable indoors. So far the air conditioner is working okay but we think September will be replacement time. Mr H and I went out to grab dinner Friday night at a restaurant nearby (not new to the area) for the first time. We did not really enjoy the meal or the atmosphere and lo and behold, at 2 AM on Saturday I woke to rush to the bathroom and continued this behavior for several hours. So Saturday was not the best day of the week for me. But~~~~~ the mail delivery brought me

Oh my goodness I can not wait to start this. Swam of Bees by Sarah Homfray, stumpwork kit. I saw the video she has on doing the Turkish stitch and I knew I had to have this bee. From time ordered to arrival from the UK it was only 5 days. I have finished all the stitching for the Sewing Basket and also made my templates for cutting. I will look though my fabric bins because I am sure I must have the right fabrics for this. My Sunflower needle punch is moving right along too.

I am however finding that I need to buy a scissor that is flat for cutting the threads close. I guess I will look to Nordic Needle to check what they have...maybe the applique type. Still feeling a bit weary from my Saturday experience so I am not working steadily on anything today. Mr H has been behaving himself but the ladder is still out. Now he needs to trim the Honeysuckle. I must admit, it is too high and growing like a weed. So many plants have landed in the trash with this heat, but this one continues to thrive. We actually had a rain, thunder and lightening storm the other evening. The morning started out cloudy but now the sun has made an appearance so the heat is starting up, not that it was cool before. Lost days and~~~~~

Not bad enough when the days get lost along the way of the week, but...

No...I am not serving sport socks. What you see is a plate in the set of 4 that now only has 3 plates...got it right. Some place a desert/salad plate is all by itself, missing from its mates. There are only 2 of us in this house...Mr H and me. Neither of us knows what happened to the missing plate. As for the sock, well we all have one of those washing machines that gets so hungry that it eats socks....so, if you see a plate like this one or find my missing sport sock, please return it to me....no questions asked. How about an update on the Mourning Dove nest....well, nothing to report as she sits and so far no hatching. Her 14 days are up so what is the delay? Such drama in the nests! Wednesday was my  meeting of Desert Threaders Chapter --EGA and we had a class in Stumpwork...

I am pleased with how it finished. I now feel confidant to try more projects. This is a small 2 x 3 design...perfect to learn with. The Cornflowers are using padding and satin stitching and the tops are similar to the Turkey Stitch.  Then there was the bead wrapping for the berries and of course the normal embroidery stitches for added filling.  Fun to do. My shawl continues to grow but not yet long enough for me. The stitching for the little purse is finished not to complete it....to be honest, I have 3 projects waiting for completion. Just have to buckle down and sit at the sewing machine. I think that about covers what I have been up to this week. I promised Mr H  that I would make him Tapioca pudding today so that is next on the daily to do. I hope you have a wonderful day.
