Slow down you move too fast.....

 That maybe what the song says but it certainly does not describe me lately. If you have not read earlier...much earlier it seems posts, I had surgery on my spine. Specifically an L4 L5 fusion with a cage support.  If you google there is lots of info and

pictures like this one. It is an involved surgery. I was due for a one night stay but problems with drainage was another night. Can not complain though. This was a CORE Specialty Hospital...27 beds. The staff were excellent and the food, well delicious. Before you ask, yes I have lots of restrictions....no bending, stretching , twisting lifting...all common sense and there is the pain if I forget. I have a 6 inch incision center spine at waist and staples which will be removed Monday. My companion The Walker on wheels is usually with me----yes once in  time I find myself without it. I have kept busy when not napping sewing hexies. Soon I should spread them out to see how many I need. Dianna has given me wonderful flower prints. She also has started a hexie quilt. Thank you Cynthia for checking up on me and others whose emails made me smile. Debbie sent me musical note...the Macarena to do while sauntering around....haha. Thank you for all your wonderful words and for you friendship. I appreciate the encouragement very much.

A pain in the neck!

 Well, I am certainly cutting it close with surgery preparations. Finally having an EKG on Monday morning at 9am. Surgery is October 3rd....it will have to do. I have had 2 other surgeries this year and did not require an EKG....not going to question the powers that will be doing the procedure. I would have had it last Monday but I incorrectly wrote the time down...so I missed the appointment....so not like me. Monday will be my first time using Uber for transportation. Alan is away until Monday very late evening and Lisa is working.  Today literally I have a pain in my neck. When I visited with the Pain doctor, we decided to wait and see if it is somehow connected with the disc issue. When I return in 2 months he will decide how to proceed. I have never had so many issues as now. Truth be told, I have been feeling a little stressed lately. I know it will work out.

Well here is McKayla all wrapped in it. so nice to see it really being used. Message received from the dad Joe is that they love it.

👀Look at my hexies.... did I mention it might take 100 complete pieces which means 200 pieces cut...I am once again enjoying my project. Sewing by hand is very relaxing for me. My sewing table is on the opposite side of my bed area so it is like another room.  I have a floor length window...my view is nice and if I turn to my right, I can look out the slider and peer into the lanai and garden. 

Recently when I did look into the garden this is what I saw...a pair of Goldfinches enjoying a bath in the fountain. They stayed for some time and of course interrupted my sewing.  Then there is Murphy...at this very moment he is under the sewing table leaning against my legs waiting for attention. How can I get things done with all this stuff around me. I love it. time to continue chores...the House Faerie once again missed my house. Dishwasher swirling, laundry swishing and dryer fluffing.... I need another cup of coffee. Say something nice to someone today...share a smile, it just maybe what someone needs.

She will be called Ruby

A partly cloudy day so far but still warm. It is 6 AM and the temp is 84 and might reach 111 by day end. Our community roofing project is still ongoing. I am amazed that these people can be up on the roof in high temps for hours. They begin around 5ish and end their day around 1 PM.


Dressed in long sleeve shirts, long pants and work boots as well as gloves----- just have to sweat for them. My plans are to stay hydrated and as cool as possible. They may reach my house sometime next week. Lot of work----rip up the shingles and tar paper, sweep and clean before laying out new tar paper then the new shingles. Did I mention that they have lots of tools with them? They have a wheel barrow on the roof with them! I thought it would be a noisy time with so many people working but surprisingly there is little noise.
My hexi project is complete....

I formed it into a pincushion and added beads to the top, of course. One of the gals at my monthly stitch group thought they looked like a spider ( and they do, sort of) and found one "leg" to be shorter than the rest so I maned it Ruby after her! Oh, no, not because she has a leg problem, just because!!!!! I did enjoy the process and know that the next hexis will be much better.  Some of us in the group are starting a new project.....

first you paint a back round, then you stitch a scene. I am combining 2 pictures into one for a meadow. It is a layering type of stitching starting with the back and working to the front. I plan to frame it when it is finished. So far I like how it is looking. Lots of possibilities with this. Oh...... my stomach is rumbling so I best find breakfast. Glad you could stop in today. Hexigon Rosette of sorts

Yesterday is a day thankfully over.... all that I will say is Mr H's hugs are just right; but you will have to take my word for it!! Moving on .... I could not seem to do anything. I felt totally scatter brain, then as I was looking up something, unknown to me now, I found a U Tube for a hexagon turned into a rosette---sort of

look beyond the fact they have not been pressed.... I was lucky to even do these yesterday. But I love how easy it was. The video of course was not in English, but her hands spoke for her. The larger one started as a 4 1/2 cut piece finishing at 2 1/4 and the smaller one was cut at 3 1/3 with a finish of 1 3/4. I used my Hexagon template from ez-quilting. This was a piece  from my fabric scraps. I think I may try to do another with  step by step pictures for a reference guide. I think I may also do one for Teneriffe. You know how it is if you do not do something all the time, it is easy to forget a step. As it is, I can not find the video on line! I still have not tried to do the traditional hexis that so many gals make lovely things from. I tell you often how Mr H loves our garden and his small pond, well yesterday I caught one of the fish on camera...

this is one of 3. The 2 larger ones, about a foot long, are about 5 years old and were 2 inches and 79 cents each from Walmart. They had a baby along the way who is only 3 years old. I say if the Hawks who fly around the house catch sight of them, well, let's not think about it.
So, on to today. This morning I will be off to run an errand then I hope to be creative with Red, poor neglected Red with that wolf on her heels! It has bee so nice to chat with you and I thank you for your kind words and your friendship...have a good day.
