It's February!

Well now...a new month and new things to look forward to. What things you may ask.... warmer weather, working in the garden and more ambition. That is what I am telling myself and what I am sticking to.

I know the garden need some work... waiting for better hand days. This is what I found the other morning...someone was digging and chewed the irrigation line! It may be one of the bunnies...they love to dig shallow places to rest in. Last year there was a resting spot outside my bedroom window. I have recovered the spot but not as yet repaired the line. My hand is not nimble enough to reattach a line. This will be one of those things I mentioned. Before you think you need an eye exam...yes, the picture is blurry.
A few months ago on Facebook there were pictures of Bathroom Dolls holding toilet paper...they were available on Etsy starting at $80.00. I told my cousin Janice that as nice as they were that was a bit too much $$$$ so.... Gladys was already sitting in the bathroom …

Denny gave this sweet wooden doll to me after I had foot surgery...quite a few years ago. We found her at a fair while I was walking with crutches and had a pink terry cloth robe just like her! Don't you just love the slippers!!!!!

My second pair of Russian Leaves earrings are complete and have been dipped. This is such a nice pattern and relaxing to bead. The designer even has given permission to sell them which not many will do. My next pair will be in blue I think. Rather than buying more beads I will try to use what I have on hand.
The weather report is telling us we may be getting rain. That is okay as we need it. The temps are really enjoyable in the 60s. I may get to sit outside later today. I have my fabric strips ready for my next origami star; maybe that will get done today. I am happy that you took time to stop by today. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship. 

Busy weekend

I thought I was going to sit back, but there was still shelves to move

First they had to be painted, then a lesson from Don on drilling, how to put in a molley and then attaching to the wall. Glenda directed from the chair with coffee in hand. Poor Don a wife, a friend and tools. The people on the shelves are not exactly where they will be but it was time to get them out of the basket in the closet. I needed to stop as my hand is once again swollen and sore. So besides the right leg not the right hand! Did I mention the needle in the foot?

As I strolled through the living room a sharp pain in you guessed it , my right foot. This needle is what I pulled out. The problem with carpets is that sometimes when you drop something you do not know you did until... Not to worry, it did not require any tools to pull out. It will be added to my Festival of Needles.
A surprise package arrived on Friday and a new mailperson.

Cousin Janice in Rhode Island sent me these delicious cookies...oh my goodness.

Each cookie is individually wrapped and just perfect; not sweet but flavored just right. These are Sweet Olive Oil Tortas with anise. Their name is Ines Rosales. Thank you sweet Janice for thinking of me with this treat.

 I have been slowly stitching on Alice. I am not fond of this motif so it is taking forever. Not much more to finish it so I will push on today with it as much as my hand will allow. This represents the tea party.
I think I may have found the fabric to redo the footstool. Just deciding between two that I had in my stash.  Oh before I forget, did I mention The Brother will be here next week?
On Saturday morning around 10 am I thought I saw someone looking at me through the large living room window...I did ...it was a young coyote! I could not grab my camera quickly. The window is to the floor so he had an easy view in. The lanai hummer is busy already this morning patrolling the back yard. I had a restless night so I did not get out there early enough to sweep so it will wait until tomorrow. In the meantime, I will make the bed wash my coffee cup and cereal bowl then settle to stitch. Hello...I forgot to post!

Not that I am that busy, but I am definitely loosing time and some of my mind. I tat, stitch and sit. On the good news front, my blood pressure is coming down! I am only having 1-2 cups of coffee a day instead of 4 and no added salt.( most of the time) My 2nd injection on my knee went well yesterday with some soreness today so I wore my beautiful leg brace when I went to needlework group this morning and for a few errands. Rubbed the jell medication in and feeling pretty good right now. I forgot to post a lovely scented gift...

Sweet cousin Janice sent me homemade soap and it smells divine. I want to tell you about the "box" it came in. Last week I sent her a tatted sun catcher and could not find a suitable box and then saw this sandwich storage container in the dollar store...perfect size! So when Janice sent me the soap I got it back...I think this may be our new mailing box!! I am not one for saving so soon this will be in my soap dish for daily use. I love homemade soaps and buy them often. A nice surprise on Tuesday...the tatting group leader asked if they could put my pink tatted egg in the Spring display window....of course I said. Did I mention that we are replacing the kitchen faucet? Well, it is bought but I am trying to find someone to install as Dennis can no longer get down under a sink. The first guy wanted $250 (I have the faucet), the second guy wanted $169 (I have the faucet), just got an email for the 3rd guy and he "thinks" maybe $75- 100 (I have the faucet) I am very tempted to do this me, myself and I but figure I would have to do this in the middle of the night while you know who is asleep, and I am guessing I would run into a problem. Oh, I did managed to change the filters for the drinking water...of course I messed the the hot water flow, could not get the water to flow into the drinking faucet, but in the end I fixed it all. Soon, I will be changing the refrigerator filters...I promise to keep the yelling down. Now today I could not get my printer to copy 2 sheets of paper to one...I have done this before but it is not working today! I am taking a mental vacation for at least the rest of the day. Sorry for the rant today, but thank you for the kind words and most of all your friendship. Have a good day....my feet are going up and my recliner back!

Surviving the heat

To say it has been hot is just, well, it has been very hot. Four days of broken records and temps in the mid triple digits. Mr H and I stay comfortable indoors with the air on and good movies and of course my stitching. Yesterday Mr H took a quick trip to Safeway and along with milk brought some Gerba Daisies

they are so vibrant that they perk up the kitchen with a glow. Mail arrived yesterday and look what it was

it was hard to choose but these were my first favorites. Diane is my cousin Janice's daughter. If you have a chance stop by her page and take a look at her creations. The forecast for today is for lower temps ....still in the triple digits. Hard to think of it a cool down however! This bee situation was taken care of yesterday.

The swarm was covering quite a bit of this Orange tree on our community property. There were many more wrapped around the other side of the trunk. I did not dare to get closer.
Now do not tell me that we must preserve our bees, I know that, but when they pose a danger, then it is a different story. Recently Arizona has experienced several severe attacks and even deaths from bee stings. I have many in my garden who are quite docile and happy to visit my flowers and not bother me or Mr H.  I found a Hardanger project, just a small one that I am thinking of making.....more on that later. Internet back!

All day yesterday the Cox crew was out and about fixing some outage in my area...the recording told me so. I would be without the computer until at least 4 PM. At 7 PM I called and the tech had to reset it from there...wherever there was. So, here I am back into world of space....Let's update.
On Wednesday mom...EvaP was admitted to hospital and is now home after tests and a blood transfusion. Thank you for the good thoughts sent here way (via FB). Now if she follows doctors orders, things should go better. On my home front...we are well as we can be and have been enjoying sitting outside..... I am sorry for those of you in the storm areas or cold, but this is a good time of year here in Arizona so we take advantage. Today I hope to do some finishing work but I did get to knit....these were easy quick and so adorable! The pattern is free on Ravelry.

I think I will make a few more and change the flower colors. I just had an interruption.... the phone rang and it was a call from my cousin Janice in Rhode Island...we are in touch all the time on Facebook but have not talked in a long time. What a wonderful surprise and absolutely wonderful conversation.
Meet Cousin Janice

she is the daughter of my mom's sister younger Anna...a young cousin! How wonderful to hear her voice and reminisce. Time sometimes has a way of leaving us and once we capture it back, we should try not to misplace it again.  We had a good chat. By the way, she is always smiling!Gee, this post has taken forever to complete...time off for the chat with Janice... so I should get a move on. Cox is coming here today "between 1 and 3" to replace my modern/router unit. I never got to laundry and I still need breakfast. For those of you in the winter storm path please stay safe and warm.
