Bracing for the hand....

Therapy on my hand is continuing., This week I have the added pleasure of wearing a brace while sleeping..

It  is hard plastic that was molded to fit my hand. It is to prevent my hand from making a fist while sleeping. The swelling seems to be down some but the aches and pains still persist. This lovely contraption is held on with Velcro

 which makes it easy to put on and of course remove when it feels to much. I can not use the hand with it on.... that is the purpose. As you can see in the picture, my hand is still swollen...I have started to do a bit of the therapy on my own at home. Seems like this is taking forever to right itself. I have been taking the occasion xx's here and there. It is frustrating not to cross stitch. I was glad I found those origami ornaments to make.... but even that takes more time. That is about it for today my friends. I must have breakfast real soon....and of course a cup of coffee. If you are interested in the August Card Exchange, there is still time to let me know. A long day-----

-----but it was nice. Yesterday Mr H decided we should take a ride to Prescott. There was an Indian Festival and it had been quite some time since we journeyed there. It is a 95 mile trip and the weather was expected to be in the 80s there compared to our 100+ in the West Valley.

We found ourselves riding on the I-17 behind this guy...a big guy wearing a big gun on his right hip. Well, this is the Southwest and guns can be worn/carried and concealed. Anyway, the ride was pleasant and easy to little traffic. I must say that the Festival was not worth the $10.00 pp admission. While at the festival we heard a horrendous crash of vehicles....4 cars smashing into one another right in front of the entrance to the park. Serious damage...could not see if anyone was hurt.

this sweet hat (I added the ring of flowers) that fits perfectly! I found it in Rendezvous on The Square. The gal in the shop was a fellow Rhode Islander...so of course we chatted. She was kind enough to give me a discount on this as well as Lady

isn't she the cutest! It is from a line made by Joe Spencer. Could not leave the shop without her. The ride home was much different than heading North. From 4:15pm to almost 5 PM were were lucky to drive more than 20mph instead of the 65-75 speed limit. Finally the cause became clear. A 3 car pile up.... second accident of the day. By the time we got into the garage we were both a bit tired. All in all we did have a good day. The temps today began at 95 at 5AM and the humidity was in the mid 30s...high for us. I think it will be an uncomfortable day out there. Well my dear friends....the laundry is ready for the line and my coffee is getting cold....okay for the coffee, I like iced coffee. Maybe I will add a few ice cubes. So glad we could spend time together. Thank you for the kind words and of course your treasured friendship. Have a wonderful day.

Slow and easy

Wow an entire week has passed me by. Even though I only work a few days per week, not going in at all seemed strange. I must say that it was a good rest in a way for my hand even though I do use it in my everyday living. I did manage to create something this week....just had to take it slow and easy....

Origami Christmas ornaments. I first saw these on Julie's blog and then did some research and found a link to a Norwegian gal in Oslo who also makes these....fun to do and requires simple folding and stitching. So far I have 3 this week...they really do not take long to do; just my hand holding things slow. Depending on the fabric and trim, they can fit into anyone's likes. Making small  changes to my likes and I am pleased. It is a good take along project. I like my Southwest one.

I have not touched any cross stitching but plan on that today. My hand is still swollen and achy/painful but I take everything easy and will stitch for just short periods at  time. I m also hoping to do a bit more on my meadow piece. My next therapy session is Tuesday. I may have some new "hand wear" then.
