Keeping busy

 Even Murphy is keeping busy

While I was swishing and fluffing in the laundry corner he was carefully grabbing a box from the recycle bin.
Once retrieved, he nonchalantly walks past me into the house. He loves boxes of kinds and sizes. Every delivery or purchase with a box is HIS.
We bought a couple of pumpkins for outside and a small one for the mantle display. Lisa though Murphy needed it because last year he played everyday with them outside. So.....
immediately took it into the house and  immediately chewed a hole into it. Eventually Alan retrieved it from his grasp. Yes we indulge him....okay maybe me more than them.
Had an appointment with my pain management doctor yesterday. I am having arthritis pain from my thigh right though the right leg. It was decided to give me an Epidural steroid injection into my spinal area. Rest for 24 hours and slowly return to normal activity. Lisa suggested that I rest and it was around 3ish. I was watching Wilson Bickford paint and next I knew it was 6pm and The Brother was just arriving from work!
Today will be embroidery day for the SAL Lisa and I are doing. We stopped at the quilt store for fabric.

The polka dot will be the table runner backing and the white on white squares are for the embroidery and the dark green (hard to see but it is 2 shades) the other fabric will be the pieces to trim the embroidery.
Of course once there...

This will be a full size Christmas pillowcase. The check is the body, the white is the trim and the cuff is the candy cane.
This selection will be for travel pillowcases. The floral print will be the body, the red the trim and the green the cuff...I will also make one changing the cuff and trim fabrics with one another.
Murphy and I went for our quarter mile jaunt around the neighborhood. The temps are a bit cooler at 80. It has been too hot to walk at all.
Well, it is good to chat with you. Thank you for your kind words and thank you for your friendship. Time for laundry check and ice cold water.

Excited

Oh she has arrived, Alice that is...
I have all to do not to grab the DMC colors and linen and begin to stitch!~ No, I must finish the few projects in the works...must finish the~~~~~ give me the strength oh fairies of mine.  I ordered her through Stitches N Things and she arrive quickly. Great service and I will order from there again. My knitting is coming along, the Hawaiian block is ready for shadow quilting and the Christmas Dresden is waiting for embellishment, Alice must be patient. I will resist her calling to me. We are still having temps in the low 90's...where oh where is Autumn? I must sit outside soon. The birds are flying in and out of the Lanai this morning and chatting away. My plans for this morning really fizzled out....I only did 2 of many tasks. I would rather be knitting or stitching so that is what I am going to do. I have an appointment at 2pm which totally gets in the way of the day....
I have a new addition to my wall....
Isn't he wonderful...Native American made but do not know where it is from. The seller did not know but thought Navaho. I just love him and he is a nice addition to my collection/display.  So glad that many of you enjoyed taking the walk with Mr H and I in the Pumpkin Garden.  We have a pumpkin that is sitting out front...not carve nor painted....just there.  Still trying to convince Mr H to paint it for me. He has created some pretty great pumpkins in the past. I hear the dryer has stopped, so guess I must get the towels out and folded. Good time for another cup of coffee. Thank you for stopping by and most of all thank you for your friendship and kind words. Hope you enjoy a great day.

The Enchanted Pumpkin Garden

On Wednesday Mr H and I visited a favorite seasonal place....
This year they set up wonderful scenes and this guy forgot to close the door!
Just too funny....the faces are exceptional on these pumpkins. We then stopped by the saloon
There are characters all over the front porch and hard to see they are also inside at the bar. This poor fella got sick on whatever brew they gave him
The talent the staff displayed is fun. We got to talk with the 2 carvers who worked on some of the pumpkins...
Such talent....they scrap away instead of actually carving into the pumpkin, keeping the wall in tack. With the heat they also kept spraying with water to prevent drying while carving. As we walked around we found...

A boxing match...look at the face! There was also the mad scientist...
he has many strange green brews. Probably that is what they serve at the saloon! How about this guy...sleeping
it was a little warm in the afternoon sun but he managed to find some shade. Of course his friend decided to sit under the misters...
not a bad way to get some relief. Not sure what he was building. We also took advantage of the misters and found a place or two to sit. On of my favorite characters was this burlap gal
She was standing among pots of flowers and holding a baby. I would love to have her in my yard!
A lovely day to walk among the pumpkins. As we left the garden to go and have lunch, we found a fisherman

I would have loved to sit and put my feet in the pond....but of course that might scare away the fish so off to lunch we went. Glad you came to stroll in the garden and hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for your friendship and kind words. Have a wonderful day.

One errand leads to another

My tablet was not working properly and it is only 3 years old. Off to Best Buy and the Geek Gal did not know what was wrong because at that moment it worked okay...of course. Mr H thought I should just get a new one --- who am I  to say no.

Of course I needed a new cover so off to Staples  because I like their covers better. Meet Samsung Tab E, or SamE. Now to learn the working of this one. So far the only thing I can not do is transfer my email addresses from the old one which means I will be putting them in manually as I go along.
Across the parking lot from Staples is Pier 1. So--- into Pier 1 we go and came out with several items..... first is this beautiful glass pumpkin to add to my 2 others...

The new one is the green with gold highlights. It all started with the purple and gold.....then because there are those plain ones...
just had to have this twisted paper pumpkin. It just speaks Autumn and will look great on the mantel if and when this weather ever cools down. So far there is no rain in the near forecast and the sun is bright and the temps are moderate today. Only at 91 so far and expected temps of 102 for later. Before leaving the store Mr H spotted a dragonfly...we love dragonflies...
love it! At the moment is hanging in the main bathroom. There is a skylight and it will catch bright light all day. Not sure if it will remain here, but for now.
Not to be left out of new items, Mr H headed over to Home Depot for a new wet vac.

After all, the last one was 9 years old and got lots of use cleaning the pond and the garage. So, that was the adventures yesterday. There will be no punching today as my hand is swollen again. I am on the back-round of the sunflower and that will be hopefully finished in the next couple of days. I guess all the shopping did my hand in! but I sure enjoyed it. That is just about all. Thank you for visiting and thank you for your friendship and kind words. Have a great day.

Enchanted Pumpkin Garden

What a wonderful afternoon Mr H and I had at the Cavecreek Pumpkin festival on Thursday....Very creative display....
These pumpkins were carved and displayed behind glass in cacti throughout the garden. Wonderful detail. It was incredible to see these faces.

there also were many posing pumpkins that were so nicely done. Everywhere in the garden the pumpkins were! I love the one relaxing in the sign.
This was a really nice way to spend the afternoon then we enjoyed lunch at one of the more quiet places out on the patio. The temperature was perfect for walking around the town area later and I was able to purchase a couple of gifts.

I have a few more pictures to share but that will be for the next post....do not want to over load you with pictures!
Last evening I went out with the gals from Jo Ann's for the monthly gathering. I will post a picture next time. Right now I need to get some housework done. This morning was spent in a long line at the post office, then at CVS pharmacy which I still have to go back to get the meds....so, it really is time to get the house in order. So happy that you stopped by to chat...thank you for the kind words and for you friendship. Have a wonderful day.

A chill in the air

I love the early mornings lately...cool crisp air. The moon looked so huge this morning when I went out to get the paper.  I have been tatting this morning. The Debra was here yesterday and she gave me a new pattern...for a tatted beaded icicle ... you know how I love my beads.
We put the pumpkins out...all arranged and ...
even a few on the mantle with the Faeries.  Mr H had to move the bird seed sack and it took a few hours for the birds to return. I think the hanging pumpkin scared them! And it was daylight! Right now I have a hummingbird outside the kitchen chatting away .... love the sounds of all the birds chatter.
I guess I should tell you that the cake I baked yesterday is good...a little sweet for me though. As much as I love my chocolates and pastries, I do not really enjoy a sweet cake. Sent a nice sized piece home with The Debra yesterday. I am thinking a relaxing day today...that is after a stop at Fry's Market and CVS. I also want to go to World Market. So much for relaxing.
Remember the little girl in the OZ picture post the other day...well, she called to tell me she is expecting a baby in May. So, of course I have already picked out an adorable pattern to crochet a blanket for The Baby...we do not know boy or girl yet. I do not usually do much crocheting, but this is so cute. So happy you stopped by to visit and chat. Thank you for the kind words. Hope your day is great.
