Just blooms~~~

No stitch pictures today. First, I worked yesterday and was just too tired to pick up a needle last night, and I am going in earlier today (11 am) so no real time to enjoy stitching. I did work a little this morning on my Hawaiian applique block. I am not very pleased with it. I tell myself it is my first needle turn project but I can see that it could and should be better. I do not want like to give up so I will think about taking out what I have stitched to re-do it.
On my way to work yesterday, just around the corner and down the street was this....
I just love when this cactus blooms. The flowers are so huge! They are at least 6 inches long and creamy white..I am not sure of the name of this plant, but it looks like it could be one of the Argentine Giant variety.
This particular  plant is only about 24 inches tall.
This is from our Prickly Pear cactus....the yellow is paper thin...too bad these flowers last one day/night.
There are quite a few flowers getting ready to open. This is the first bloom from our Yellow Hibiscus...and it is just outside my kitchen window. A lovely bright sunshine yellow.
Look at this sunny yellow hibiscus! It is the first to bloom just outside my kitchen window. Within the week several others will bloom. I love this time of year.....
It is always a pleasure to have you visit....I will make my rounds later today after work. Whatever your plans for the day....hope it is a good day for you.

Mallow and BBD

Yesterday was a lovely day. The sun was bright and temps comfortable and a little breeze... so why was my Dragonfly chime not ringing?
Could it be because our Tree Mallow has gotten so big and growing around the chimes? Yes, that is why. But, it it so lovely, Mr H will not trim it.... at least not yet. This is just outside our lanai. I love this time of year. All the flowers are strong because the sun is still not too hot.  Once the temps climb higher we will be trying to give them shade to keep them cooler. We have Market umbrellas in the yard, not for us, but for the plants!
I did some stitching yesterday on my BBD Rose Garden....
I am stitching on 32 ct something from my linen box and GA Sugarplum. I am a bit disappointed in the thread color, but ordered from checking on line. This is one reason I hardly ever order thread on line. I had hoped the color would have more variation in it. It is soft and subtle and I guess I do like it.
Once the stitching is completed I will find the right fabric for a larger pillow and make this the center of the pillow. It is a picture in my mind right now.
Do you ever wonder about the people behind the scenes of Blogger? I do. Every so often I log in and things are changed....always a surprise. I suppose as long as it all works.....
Right now, I am needing another cup of coffee and the morning paper. I will be off to work today so no stitching. Speaking of work... there is a delightful young girl working part time who is of Indian descent and we got talking about fabric and she and her family make their own sari's. She was saying how she always has left over fabric and I offered to look at some to buy from her. Tuesday she came to tell me she thought about it and would bring some in for me to see. I will let you know how that goes.....
Happy as always to have you stop by and chat. Enjoy your day.

It's Spring!

So today is the first day of the Spring Equinox. Did you know that equinox means equal night which is to say that the day and night are of the same time length.
Are you looking for my stitch photo and update...so am I.  I had great plans but they got lost between J C Penny and my home. In the morning we went so Mr H could get more injections for his pain. Are they working? It will be a few days before he knows. In the afternoon I went to JC Penny for an eye exam and picked out new frames. BUT.... I also had my eyes dilated.  The dilation lasted for a long time....a long time. Hence, no stitching of any kind.
Then I began to feel a headache coming on......

so...... Guinevere stayed right on the sewing machine and I did not finish my SB project. Early to be was my plan and then this morning....too lazy. I will be at work today.....maybe later I will get to sew or tomorrow morning as I will be of work.
The rains seem to be gone and the sun is bright..... temps are going back up to the 80's by weeks end.....
I think what I need now is a cup of coffee and something to eat.....whereever you are and whatever the time of day/night, I hope you are relaxing. So glad you had some time to spend with me.....thank you for the emails and visits.

Did you hear???

How exciting....Zoe will be hosting....with my help of course the famous~~~~ Madame Muriel.
We are not sure of her arrival date but we are making plans. I have informed Mr H....still awaiting a response, but you know men.....I will update as soon as I know she has booked her flight.
I have been gathering some extras to send along with the Travelling Pattern
~~Tending The Blooms
You still have time to sign up for the chance to stitch this quick and delightful pattern. I will draw on Sunday March 25th. I will putting the final touches on mine later today and will post tomorrow.

I did manage to stitch a little on my BBD.... I have not posted because, well, there is little enough on it and I thought I would get it further along...but no. Instead I just remained lazy yesterday. Mr H and I watched some Netflix.... we enjoy watching the British mysteries. Today there is a morning doctor's appointment for Mr H then my day is free. I started to go through my Blog address book so I can plan a few mailings....so you may get a request from me for snail posting.... or you could just send me an email if you are inclined to!
Welcome to a few new friends who have been stopping by. As always thank you for your emails and kind comments. I love finding your blogs. Have a wonderful day in whatever you do.

A finish and a pattern is ready to travel

I am so pleased with my Penny Rug Mat...
The little candy dish is one I have had since I am married..... almost 42 years. A cousin of Mr H gave it to me. It is from Italy and is very old. The elderly gentleman who gave it to the cousin brought it from Italy when he immigrated to the USA.
It really was a fun project and easy too. I am already planning my next one. Just have to decide on colors for it. It is a pattern I bought at Jo Ann's that has flower appliques.
Now, I am happy to say tha the SB Travelling Pattern is ready to move on.

I am still decideing on the fabric for the backing... I plan on a small pillow. Lee  sent suggested threads in DMC. I will be sending that as well as my changes... you know I just had to make a few color changes. I decide to use a tea dyed 32 ct from my linen stash and also stitched with double thread instead of the single.
It is such a sweet design and quick too.

Lee sent a little bee for me to add.....I will be sending a little something to the next person to add. So...... If you want to stitch this cute design, leave a note on this post and I will draw a name on Sunday the 25th....

We had a bit of rain over night... not enough to make a real difference, but welcomed anyway. I love the sound of the rain.... the sun is just now popping out, but I would not mind a little more rain. I know the plants love it and Mr H does not have to water them. I worked a full 4 days this past week...I am tired. I really like the 3-3 day weeks, but sales sales sales = busy busy busy. Today a quick drive to the market and then some reading and stitching on my BBD. I am so pleased we shared some time together.... I will stop by soon to visit with you. Thank you for the kind words and emails.... have a wonderful day.
