Sneak peek

Oh goodness, another week has gone who knows where.  The weather has turned to winter. Yes, we had a couple days/nights of rain. One day with lightening and thunder and hail. All is gone but the cooler temps remain. Still, better than ice and snow and bitter cold.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up this glass container with tulip bulbs and they have bloomed! So nice to see the soft pink  color.  I will have Alan plant them in the garden later. They bloomed the day I found out that our cousin Ann (who I asked for prayers) passed away for the Covid virus. 

Lisa and I want to give you a little peek at what she will be wearing for the wedding. We found the perfect Pashmina shawl to keep away the chill. The top right is the hem of her cream colored dress and look at her shoes...a smooth suede and short heel. We ordered our flowers so we are set to get married.... well, the date is coming up  soon!

I received a surprise birthday gift from sis Lynowl.... a glass cheese paddle...... and specially imprinted too. Then yesterday a gift card arrived from her. My day is February 3rd, but after the Christmas mailing and my gift from her arriving late, she wanted to be prepared! 

Someone furry has just emptied the basket of paper from under the desk! Mind you there was only 2 pieces of paper but he must tear it up. Soon I will check for the mail...and yes he must have an envelope to "read". 

Just made a cup of tea, so off I go. Wish we could have a tea together! Thank you for the kind words and for your friendship. 

Partly cloudy with garden work and a bauble

I took advantage of the temps being only 77 at 6 am to get all the clippings into the trash for pick-up tomorrow. Temps today may reach 107 later today. Just about filled a 39 gallon bag. A few have asked why I am so concerned with the garden clean up. First, I love my wild "fluffy" look of the plantings that Dennis established but the important thing to remember here in dry Arizona is that all these leaves that fall and dry so quickly in the heat are a fire hazard. Yes, a fire fuel for any spark or sun made spark.  Just this past week a trailer truck dragging a chain cause a wild fire that started on June 4 and quickly spread to almost 5,000 acres. Many fires are cause by human error.... including those who smoke and toss the cigarette out of the car window. So my friends, not trusting anyone around me, I prefer to keep as clean a garden of dried material as possible.

The Fire Cracker bush is in full glory and the hummers love the nectar. Also provides nice branches to rest in the shade. The Doves in the Sweet Memory tree are still in panic mode …. not sue what they will accomplish flying out of the nest each time I am on that side of the garden. Lucky for them it is still too hot for me to be out there!
Yesterday the visit to the doctor for the x-ray report, revealed what he found with hands on exam.... I have a curving spine to the left and some disc narrowing as well as some arthritis. So relieved that it is nothing more. Going for bone density test to see how much Osteoporosis is there. So, Dr. Paul gave me 3 or 4 injections (once numb I was not sure of the needle pricks) along the area and so far I am feeling better. Of course going into the garden this morning right after the injections was not the best move but it had to be done while it is cool and early.

While waiting for the online order of the crystal dagger drops I am experimenting with some beads that I have. Not too bad and this time using clear seed beads adds a different look. I have also found that I need to alter the pattern accordingly to the large bauble and the seeds that I am using. Not all are exact in size. Loving this ornament and looking forward to them dangling in someone's home as gifts. Of course these can be displayed year round too.
Time to rest the back and later I return to the ankle/foot specialist for follow up on that injection. Seems like I will be doing the doctor rounds now. Age related right AnnB.

Friday is here

Not really a big deal when you are retired. Someone asked if I like being retired....After working many years, many years of an alarm clock telling to get up and get ready to be someplace all day then the driving to and from said place.... of course I like being retired. I did enjoy it better with My Denny being around, but I am making adjustments..... right AnnB? Yesterday I had a wonderful long conversation with cousin AnnB. It was by accident…. glad that I am not the only one learning to be a modern women with new phones at "our age". It started because when she was entering my new number in her phone somehow she hit the call button so of course we had to chat. Lots of laughs and a loving talk as cousin can do. We may have 2,519 miles between us but the chat was like we were sharing a cup of coffee. It is our generation that is up now. Of all the cousins I am (of course sis Lyn and The Brother Alan) the only one with a parent left.... and she is an in-law. Ann leads us with me coming in third age-wise. Of the twelve of us, 2 are now gone leaving 10 of us.

The baby Doves are doing well. Now that they are moving about, the parents leave them so they can get more feeding time for them. One day they will be too big to stay in the Clock Nest.....
Laundry is swishing and more to do. I have not gone into the garden yet...need to water the Plumeria and herbs. Due the fact that I received an injection in my right ankle yesterday and can not risk a site infection with the dust and such., sweeping the garden will wait. Yesterday was the Foot/Ankle doctor. He is a nice man who was quite attentive and gentle...key word. I did not even realize that the needle and med was injected until he applied the band-aid! My kind of Doc! While waiting for the x-rays ad exam, one of the nurses and I talked ...she is from Rhode Island too! So it was fun reminiscing about the place and who we know...in RI everyone knows everyone...almost everyone is related to someone you know. The diagnosis, is my ankle is full of arthritis …. which is part of aging. I return in 2 weeks to see how this injection helps or not. That about covers what is going on here. No plans for the day....and I like it! I think reading would be nice.
