New project

Oh goodness the winds yesterday afternoon brought leaves from all over the neighborhood into the garden! One benefit was the music from the many chimes in our garden. Yesterday Lisa became a Privilege Card Holder so that she can use the Rec centers. We came back home and began the sorting and organizing for the upcoming project...

This is the flannel we bought so far to begin. I love when you enter a good quilt shop and everything in a collection is set up for  easy coordinating. At this point all of Lisa's items are cut and now she will coordinate trimmings. It is fun teaching her sewing and she is doing really well.

Alan received his 2nd vaccine yesterday and today does not feel well. Lisa did well after her 2nd shot. the good news is that by the end of April we three will be protected. I should say as protected as we can be. Still wearing our masks and being careful when out.

Our temps are still in the 90s and it is no longer easy to walk barefoot in the garden which is laid with brick pavers...they get very hot. Murphy knows enough to walk along the house which has some shade and not hot on his feets. Today I have stopped giving him the Benedryl. He is not gnawing or licking constantly. We shall see what happens. The large curio in the living room is still empty...need a good push... just being lazy. So far I am learning more on using my laptop. I know, it is just a portable computer, but when you are years used to a desk top and the keyboard and stuff, but Alan is a good teacher and patient with me. I have learned to upload pictures! This HP has bells and whistles to learn.

I want to update you on my lovely niece Tonya. Yesterday was a surgery day and she did very well. All your good thoughts and prayers have definitely helped. thank you from the bottom of my heart. I should be swishing and fluffing in the laundry area, should be doing this and that. I think I would rather organize my bookcase  storage area so I can find things when needed. Glad you had some time to share with me. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.

Jo's Easter Treasure Hunt

Good Morning...Today is Good Friday and it means Jo is hosting the annual Easter Treasure Hunt. Our goal is to post a picture of Easter or Spring related...

First I will apologize as I cannot remember where I got this freebie. I will really try to locate the info and update later. I have always enjoyed needle in hand embroidery. This lovely gal is spreading Spring blooms around my kitchen. I change out the dish towel with each season/holiday.
Please be sure to collect your letters from the other participants to solve the mystery phrase. My letter to give is ~~~ L.
Next on the list to visit is with Mary at..

On Tuesday I received my 2nd Covid vaccine. Of course I would be one of those who had a reaction....not with the first one. I spent Wednesday in bed feeling like a train hit me and slowly felt better yesterday and so far this morning, although I woke a 3A:30am because of the thunder,  I seem to be feeling better. So, this post is short....Have a wonderful holiday weekend.
Edit...the embroidery is from, https://jacquelynnesteves.com/, one of my favorite blogs!

My turn~

Spring in Arizona is lovely.... temps are nice and sliders are open. Today is a windy day so they may close soon just to keep the pollen and dust at bay. Lots of music in the garden with the chimes swaying. On Monday I tried again to schedule a Covid shot and voilà, I got one for Tuesday morning! Only reaction is that my arm is sore and I have a light headache today which may or may not be part of it. In 28 days I will get #2 and then I should be set. Lisa and I went to Sprouts so I could buy the supplement that my Cardiologist wants me to try...Horse Chestnut! Now I can not say for sure, but I took the first one with my meal as directed then shortly after I was very nauseas. Combine that with the fact I had gotten the vaccine, I had  a large bagel loaded with cream cheese.... who knows. I rested on my bed for a short time and felt better. If not familiar with this pill, it is for leg vein health and inflammation. Today will be an easy day. Swishing and fluffing in the laundry area and then to clean up.....

yes, after the mess Murphy made. He follows me into the garage and takes things out of the recycle bin. His favorite of course are boxes.

Lisa and I went to the quilt shop...of course we found lovely fabric for her projects and mine. She is doing great with sewing and building her confidence. Her current projects require embellishments so we went to Michaels and found some. We are building her stash!

This beautifully stitched and finished pillow arrived for Alan and Lisa, a wedding gift from Lynda Ruth all the way from Canada. How thoughtful of her. Alan and Lisa love it and send special thanks to her. Be sure to click on the picture to enlarge it to see the detail.
I have been very lax with not only posting to my blog, but to visiting others also. I must get back to doing so. I am not the only one with pain/discomfort, but those of you who are know how easy it is to let things go.
I would like to give you an update.
I asked for special thoughts for my lovely niece Tonya...she is doing well. Now I need to ask the same for my nephew (her son) pictured here with her. I thought it would be nice to put faces to the request. This is a special young woman and was so for My Denny. Nico is a great young man. I know that special thoughts do help. Thank you.
Now, time to visit the laundry area and attempt to collect the torn box form Murphy. Happy to chat with you as always. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.

Sneak peek

Oh goodness, another week has gone who knows where.  The weather has turned to winter. Yes, we had a couple days/nights of rain. One day with lightening and thunder and hail. All is gone but the cooler temps remain. Still, better than ice and snow and bitter cold.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up this glass container with tulip bulbs and they have bloomed! So nice to see the soft pink  color.  I will have Alan plant them in the garden later. They bloomed the day I found out that our cousin Ann (who I asked for prayers) passed away for the Covid virus.

Lisa and I want to give you a little peek at what she will be wearing for the wedding. We found the perfect Pashmina shawl to keep away the chill. The top right is the hem of her cream colored dress and look at her shoes...a smooth suede and short heel. We ordered our flowers so we are set to get married.... well, the date is coming up  soon!
I received a surprise birthday gift from sis Lynowl.... a glass cheese paddle...... and specially imprinted too. Then yesterday a gift card arrived from her. My day is February 3rd, but after the Christmas mailing and my gift from her arriving late, she wanted to be prepared!
Someone furry has just emptied the basket of paper from under the desk! Mind you there was only 2 pieces of paper but he must tear it up. Soon I will check for the mail...and yes he must have an envelope to "read".
Just made a cup of tea, so off I go. Wish we could have a tea together! Thank you for the kind words and for your friendship.

Breaking News!

Did you miss my posts? Just had a doctor visit (new PCP) and for the last 2 weeks (since seeing her) my blood pressure is high again but my pulse is too low.... of course it is! Now another BP med is added to make it 3. My lab work shows a couple of concerns . I will be seeing a cardiologist soon. I have been experiencing lightheadedness and dull headaches.... tough getting old. Truth to be told, I have been feeling tired and lack of energy and ambition. Hard for me to believe, but soon I will be 74....

Oh wait...that is not the Breaking News. NO.

Isn't this kitchen towel cute? Lisa bought it for me. We are in love with Gnomes! I keep a towel on display with my mixer for the season/holidays. Love is in the air. Alan and Lisa will be getting married February 9th. They will take a couple of days to stay and wander about in a town just North of us. Murphy and I will hold the home front.. I am happy to say I will be their witness. Wedding bands are bought, dress is bought, shoes and other things to be packed. Dinner reservations are made at one of our favorite restaurants. Tomorrow we will order flowers. We are excited.  Of course there will be pictures to share of the big day.
New craft to practice...paper beads. I know, why? my answer is because. Pictures soon.
Have you seen these...mask guards. They are great. It keeps the mask away from your mouth so you can breathe easier and talk to be understood.  Lisa and I have been wearing one for about a week. It stays in place once you put the mask over it. Looks like a turtle!
So, I will try more to keep up my blog. Sometimes my feeling down gets control of me. Just the other day I learned that My cousin Ann is in hospital with Covid-19 in the ICU for the past few days. Please keep her in your thoughts. The virus was everyone's concern but then it hit my family with the passing of mom, EvaP and then we began to hear of friends and acquaintances having contracted it and passing.  No longer just strangers or famous people...but our family and friends. Masks and social distancing...please help. Get the vaccine when it is available to you. I will be trying to sign up this coming week. The country has been a crazy place and we must work together.
As always it is so nice to chat with you. Thank you for your kind words and thank you for your friendship.
Edit/update

A new year finally

Hello on this first Saturday of the new year....2021 finally arrived and I was actually awake but did not watch the Times Square event. We did begin but Alan and I just could not adjust to the format...or the performers. Today is cloudy and cool but not bad. Anyway on to better things. There are a couple of FB pages that encourage and support. One of them, maybe more encourage a Yearly Word instead of resolutions. My Word of Affirmation for 2021 is Thankful. There has been so much negativity that I want to really focus on the good. Each day I will think of one thing to be thankful for...being positive!

Meet Alan's Yeti. Look closely and you can see his eyes the 3 "bumps" are the top of his head. Santa knows that Alan and I kid about the hunt for the Yeti all the time so now he can prove there is one...eventually. At the present he is loosing his shell. I will keep you picture posted.
One other thing I got for Christmas was this handy attachment for my mixer. I love my Mandolin but I think Alan worries every time I use it. He thinks this is safer. Next might be a past attachment?!
Arizona is still high in Covid numbers and trying to be safe is the normal. I do my best. When I think about those who do follow the rules, like EvaP and then are those diagnosed with it and then pass on quickly, well, it scares me a little. I am grateful that she did not suffer as many others are. Wear your mask and keep distance...
I ask that you keep a lovely friend back in RI in your thoughts... she is doing well after breast surgery and treatment but still a bit more special thought is always good. Lisa is not feeling well...so add her to your thoughts as well.
The list gets long 💗.
Finally most of our mailed packages have arrived...for New Years! There is still one out there...DebbieB it is on the way to Canada I am sure. Thank you for the caring thoughts on my not feeling well. It mainly is because of a med snafu and the fact that I now will be seeing a new PCP on Monday. Not taking an important medication for a week now really causes havoc. Tired, light-headed, headache and vertigo... not pleasant but it could be worse. Once again that Household Faiery has not appeared so I am off to swish and fluff in the laundry area. Can't find the coffee barrister either so I will make my own coffee. Thank you for stopping by. I am lucky to count you as my friend. Thank you for the kind words and thoughts and your friendship. See, my Word of Affirmation...Thankful!
Coming up in a post soon...The Tumbleweed story!
