Some friends to brag about

What a lovely morning.... outside. Inside it is a little off...another one of those days when I am coming and going in the same step! I have one wash drying one in the washer and some hung to dry, so I guess part of me is functioning. Mr H has a doctor appointment this morning... I am going in for 1 PM today. Yesterday was our stitch group...

A class was held over the last few months...needlepoint... and these are some of the finished works framed. The top left is the teacher/member Anne assisting Helen the top center is Mary who is just beginning her piece. and the center is (back row, l-r) Helen, Nancy, Linda, Ziz. The gals seated are (l-r) Jane Anne and Jeanne. I do not do needlepoint and I know the time spent and the patience they all have.  While we are on the subject of groups, the tatting group The Debra and I are hoping to organize seems to have some interest. Yes! One of my co-workers, a customer and Mary from the group above all are interested. So now we are 5.
Well, my friends, my stomach is telling me just coffee is not going to do it so I best find a breakfast to settle it down. Remember the drawing ....leave me a note saying that you want to be in the draw which will be this Sunday. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your time with me...have a great day.

A lovely afternoon

I am having a  s l o w  morning...you know, when the thoughts to do are there but the ambition is not. So, instead, I am relaxing and waiting for Perry Mason to come on TV. I am working today and sometimes not to do much on a day of work is a good idea. About yesterday..... I have a friend, Jeanne, who lives in the next courtyard. We also belong to the monthly group, Sun Stitchers. She is a wonderful quilter and is presently doing a nice cross stitch sampler. When she began it, she asked if I would help get her started.... no real need because she is doing just fine.

 A couple of time she requested I look in how she was doing..... no real need to check. Last week we decided to get together one day a week or so and stitch on our work. Finally yesterday I walked over to her place. I did not want her to walk over to me because of the heat/humidity after the rain... yes we finally had rain. The walk is not far. Out the gate of my courtyard around the corner and in her back gate..... blink and you are there. It is just that she is a "little" older than me and , well, next session is at my place. I must remember to take a picture of her sample and get the name. It is coming along nicely. I took my BBD piece  that I am doing for the September exchange. Speaking of the group.... if you were one of those who signed up but have not opted to participate by actually stitching and sending... let Lisa know so she reorganize the names. The rules are simple... and you do not have to participate in all rounds, but at least every other one is nice. Off my speech. Back to Jeanne. We probably did as much chatting as stitching.... you know how it is. One thing leads to another. Just a nice couple of hours together.
As for the rain... on Wednesday around 3:30AM, I heard the thunder... saw some lightening.... then the downpour. The storm rain only lasted about half an hour. I still had to water the plants in the later morning. But what it lacked in water it made up for in the humidity. Now, we really so not have humidity like in other parts of the country, but when we do, it is not pleasant. Today is starting off a bit cloudy as it did yesterday, but the temperature over night remains around 90 so it can only get hot by mid day... 100+ hot. The electric company is happy....
Time to return to relaxing. Glad you stopped by, maybe a picture or two tomorrow....love your kind words and emails....glad you all enjoyed my last post and heart shaped leaf. Have a great day....

More friends to meet

What a lovely morning. The temp is around 70 and the doors are all open... at least for now. I have laundry in the dryer and spent some of the morning stitching on My Lady and getting some beads ready for a bracelet to send as a gift... beads out for some Santa earrings also for gifts...but I want to share a few more pictures from Monday's Stitch group.

Let me tell you about these two ladies. Of course you have met Dear Ziz before ( top left)...always has a smile and kind word for all. She is helping Jeanne who is a marvelous quilter. Here Jeanne shows her latest creation.

Next is Helen.... This is a large project of a lion. Lots of confetti stitching and many blended colors. Helen is stitching this one for a family member. They are sure lucky to get this when completed.

Our group may get together only once a month, but it is a pleasure to spend time with these and the other ladies. Sometimes stitching is secondary to friendship.

 Some weeks it seems that doctors are our social life!. Between Ms Zoe and Mr H now add in me... well all I can say is our calendar is full. This morning I am off for more injections. Then who knows what the day holds.  I do need to get to the bead shop, but I may wait until Sunday for that.  I ordered and received 2 Clover Clam-shell kits. I do wish that Jo Ann's carried them so I could get them discounted! I will fit them into my busy schedule hopefully soon. I guess that is all the chatter I have this morning. Can it really be? Are we really having days that are in the 90's? The forecast this week tells us that it will be all 90's and no triple digits. Well now, this is good news around here. It means that soon I will back outside and that Mr H will get the yard back in order and ready for new plants. Although not a very cool morning, I am sitting here with the kitchen slider open and listening to a conversation between parent Gamble Quails and their teen-aged youngsters. We classify the baby quail as they mature. This group is almost ready to leave their parents.
Yesterday was our monthly stitch group meeting...show and tell was/is always the highlight.

This is Sunny and her beautiful Coi. She converted this project from needlepoint to cross stitch and found just the right color matches to make it work.
One of talented ladies, Anne brought a few garments and this queen size quilt...
Anne is accomplished in many areas of stitching and this is Sashiko. In January she will be teaching a few of us in this decorative stitching. She has written, along with a friend Pauline, a book with many of the patterns. Can't wait to learn several of these stitches.
Tomorrow I will introduce you to two other ladies and their fine work. I am still working on My Lady and hope to get it finished this week. Things just seem to get in the way! As much as I love having more than one project going at a time, sometimes I stitch on none of them! It is a pleasure to have you visit and wonderful of you to take the time to leave kind words. A presentaion and an almost

Did you miss me yesterday...or how about early today? Well, some days Blogger and I have a  problem disagreement and I do not even know why! Yesterday afternoon after my monthly stitch group meeting...a mouthful--- I could not sign in to post. Today, it seemed like it would be a repeat of yesterday, but now here I am.

Friends are wonderful...sometimes they are really the best in our lives. We do a show and tell every month. Anyone can present a completed piece and tell a bit about it. Helen did just that---but with a twist. She told her tale and then announced that she made the framed piece for a good and dear friend who was present....Fern! Well, the look on Fern's face and the gentle tears that fell said it all......

Fern loves cats---has 3 and does volunteer work for a local cat shelter. The piece was beautifully stitched by Helen all about cats. Click on the picture to enlarge/read it. I have the best friends in my life.

On my stitching.....it is just about ready to mount on the box top. Unfortunately, due to an interruption----a phone call from sis Lyn in RI---stitching progress came to a halt. You know how our conversations go on and on....anyway....

This will be the pincushion for the inside. I finally decided on the button I wanted. The design tells you to stitch Ric-rack in he space where the button is. The Ric-rack that I am using...that I dyed from white....does not look good. It looks very nice on the fabric for the box lining but not here. So....another what shall I stitch in the space decision. I have to think about it some more.
As for the top....

I chose this shell button and am happy with it. So tomorrow you will see the completed project! I think you will like it as much as I do.

Yesterday was our monthly stitch group meeting. We proudly made a presentation of our soldier pillows---127 in all!

From left to right, Anita, Ginny and our rep from Luke Air Force Base....Tech Sgt Nicole Eisenbarth and her daughter. Her sweet daughter presented all of us with a box of Girl Scout cookies.

Our group has gotten quite small as our snowbird members have left for cooler climates. But....

Yes, I am still stitching on my exchange piece and finished my giveaway pieces and will return to my challenge piece this week. I probably won't post it until it is finished because as I have said, it is a duplicate of the first side.

We seem to be having a partly cloudy morning, but it is still quite warm. Yesterday reached 117 here in the West Valley. The air con is keeping us cool.Hope all is well with all of you. I am so happy to have you visit with me...have a wonderful day.
