Click...click

 The sound you do not want to hear when starting trying to start the car is click. that is what happened yesterday when Lisa was going to work. there was some hesitation the day before but it did start. Not Wednesday.  So a text to The Brother Alan. He came home a little early so we could take the car to the dealership. Yes, as it turned out the battery needed to be replaced. Early this morning before going to work he and Lisa went to pick it up....al is good.

Finally sat and used the Singer.... a  beautiful pillowcase for my bed. The fabric just caught my eye and then I had to change a few things. The body of the case is the purple pansy print and the cuff is the large rose print. Actually the cuff is a border print so I had to change the size. It is 10 inches wide. When cutting the cuff it is 9 inches folded in half to be 4 inches.

Problem solved by trimming the cuff and then lining the inside with the trim piece....the fabric for the trim and cuff lining is actually in the cuff border. Very pleased with it and of course the sewing machine. There are so many attachments that Alan helped me figure a good way to store them so I am not rummaging through loose pieces.

We found this at Jo-Ann's and had a coupon. I labelled each section and as you can see, this works perfectly. I like things to be organized. some feet came with the machine and then Alan ordered a Singer special box with feet and then there was another group that were special additions with the machine. I do not think there is any that I need!

Swishing is happening in the laundry room and in between that I hope to get some sewing done. It is a warm sunny but I will keep the slider open for Murphy to go in and out...for now. It has been nice having you visit. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.

Movies and floss

Tuesday was a hot day .. a reminder of what is yet to arrive. Today is starting at 75 and going to the triple digits. Monsoon begins the 15th so we know the winds, Haboobs and rains will begin. The AC kept me comfortable while in the house. The one errand I ran to the Hyundai dealership...a wasted hour... was all I did. Part is on order and waiting to return. I decided to do some "cleaning out" of a closet shelf. I found some letters and cards from when I first moved here! All had lovely notes in them, so of course I reread them and some brought smiles and a few even tears. By the time I finished I was feeling overwhelmed. That task is now complete. Next will be to go through the many movies and CDs that Denny had. I have my favorites so those I will keep.
 This shelf has a double row of movies, some are sets like the Bruce Lee box set.

These two shelves ae CDs.. about  200+
These shelves have DVDs.... the top shelf is double row and as you can see, some are sets. The bottom shelf are Disney DVDs... and other movies...Denny was a movie buff. Does anyone still watch movies and listen to CDs besides me?
Still have much to do about closet/garage/storage organizing. My goal is to completely empty one of the large garage storage units. I need to get to Lowes to add to my wall rack in the garage. Later today I plan to get at the floss... remember the boxes of floss?
This is what the inside of those colorful boxes looks like. All the floss is in numerical order, in individual floss bags, on a large ring and kept by category number... for example: all the 100s, the 500s and so forth are together. Always able to find what I need. Since I am not doing any (at this time) cross stich, I will be de-stashing all these, all 5 boxes. A good sit by the TV  in the cool of the house and pick what I want to keep. Unlike sorting the letters/cards this should go quickly... no nostalgia here. I have a few months to get organized.
That is about it... I am taking a mental health day.....
Glad you stopped by. Thank you for your kind words and for your friendship.

Slow start to my day

Not sure why, but lately as you will note from the late posts, I am just pokey in the mornings. There was a time when I posted at 3 or 4 AM! Just having such slow days. Not happy with this new me, but what to do. It is not that the weather is the cause. We are having a delightful winter start with temps daily in the 70s or mid 60s. The sun is bright and warm daily and flowers are still blooming for me to enjoy. Certain days do affect me and I am trying to get past them....eventually I am sure it will be easier for me.
Look at what can follow me around
It is a rolling metal cart that has wheels that can lock and is about 29 inches high and plenty of space between the generous deep shelves. The shelves are around 16 - 1/2 by 13- 1/2 inches. Found it at Michael's. I choose the soft "rose" metallic finish; there are 3 other colors. It actually moves nicely even on the carpet. Now I have the project all in one portable arrangement.
Currently it is all set for my tatting which is a new snowflake pattern. This is my second attempt to get it right. I prefer to tat from written directions not diagrams but I am too lazy to write it out. I hope to get it made today.
The sweet Lady Bug is already to visit the post office tomorrow and find a new home.....where...not saying just yet. I will say it has a bit of a distance to travel. Speaking of the post office and travel, I mailed 2 packages to Canada on December 8th. One finally arrived after Christmas! and the other ....it is still in Canadian customs! I have sent to the UK quicker than this.
Well, one laundry is swishing and one is drying. Almost like My Denny was here....there was a tissue caught in the wash! Don't you hate that? Not like me at all. He was famous for leaving one in a pocket and of course I would forget to check. Oh well.
Guess I will finish my coffee and then make the bed so I can tat. Hope you all have a great day. It has been nice having you stop by. Thank you for your kind words and your friendship.

Special Birthday ~~~~~~and a finish

Happy Birthday Mom
This is Eva Piccirilli, and today is her birthday. She is still an active lady who is 84 years old.  Once she retired, she helped with her great-grandchildren...Nico and Joey (cousins, who celebrate their 20th  birthdays on Dec 13th) and grandaughter Elyssa (age 17)...always available to drive them to and from school and work. Now she spends time knitting, crocheting and loves to do basic embroidery. I have several pieces she has done for me.
So, today I send my love from Arizona to Rhode Island to my mom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is from By The Bay Needleart..stitched from the kit...I really like the way it turned out. I used the tag to initial and date (on the back). The backing is a lovely plaid...don't you think. I  made a small change by stitching a visible dash line around the piece.
I was also able to find (at Staples) the solution for the January challenge...see my  Challenge blog..(sidebar).
I won't get much stitching accomplished today...work at JoAnn's day... and as soon as the Post Office opens, I am off to mail a few packages....and I missed a delivery of 2 packages yesterday, so in line I will have to stand and wait my turn.....
Have a great day and I am so glad you decided to take time from your busy day to visit....
