Wizard of Oz and Elyssa

Relaxing day yesterday.... did some stitching but was interrupted to run a few errands. We started out for the bead store and the Oriental Market. I did not find the purple seed beads I was looking for but did find the cookies in the Oriental market. Amazing how Mr H and I go to Fry's market for a few items and come out with bags of food that I am sure were not on the list that was left on the kitchen counter. Of course it was Monday night football but first we watched...
Mr H ordered it last week and we just got around to watch it. The snapshot is of my niece Elyssa taken in 1998 when she dressed as Dorothy for Halloween. Do you see the ruby slipper pin? That is one of my favorite pins.... it is from Kirks Folly collection and is no longer made. The ruby Swarovski crystals  and little charms really sparkle. Just love this movie. This is the 75th Anniversary edition and we really enjoyed the extra commentary about the making of the movie and about the cast. All in all,  a pleasant movie time and remembering a little girl who is now 20 years old!
Our temperatures have been delightful...today should be in the mid to high 80's....nice not to have the house air running. Still, I have it on in the car.
I have an itch to try Teneriffe Lace. Now come on, do I really need to add something else to the basket? I guess the answer is yes because I do plan to try it. Have you? I might send for a kit from Gina-B Silkworks. I also just bought the RNS book on Whitework. I really must behave try to refrain from this behavior. The urge to try it all! I do not have enough hours now to do what I do. Some days it feels like a blur. Hard to think it is already mid October.
Time for me to get a few stitches on my feathers in. Today is a work day....thanks for visiting with me....have a great day.

How time flies.......

I can not believe my last posting was Thursday! What have I been doing? Well, for starters, it has been crazy busy work. Jo Ann's has had so good sales and the shoppers have been buying.I have been doing 4days at 5 hours....oh I know big deal. Remember I am retired?! well, part-time anyway. At night I have been so tired and a little achy. Not much stitching going on. I actually have not accomplished very much. My mind is tired! I seem to be misplacing things and only finding some of them. I am sure eventually everything will turn up...I hope. Even my emails are getting lost! I keep finding my junk folder has mail that should not be there. I feeling ambitious today....laundry #3 in dryer, newspaper read, package to go to Post Office tomorrow is ready, ink changed in printer, and most importantly, I have had needle in hand.
The weather here is finally cooling. It felt good to sit outside yesterday for awhile. I think I will take my stitching out to the lanai with another cup of coffee. I am glad you stopped by, even if there is not much here today. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Sometimes....

EvaP (mom) called me the other evening very upset. It was to tell me that my Aunt Esther
(she is the lady on the right, mom on left and yours truly in the middle. ) had passed away. This picture you may remember from when I last visited Rhode Island. Aunt Esther and EvaP were the last 2 of their generation in our family. So of course mom is feeling all this hard.  Esther was married to my dad's younger brother Gene.
The day this picture was taken, Aunt Esther held my hand and smiled at me, she told me I was pretty....growing up we were very close; Aunt Esther, Uncle Gene, Anthony and Eileen their-- children --spent wonderful summers at the lake. I always remember picking the blueberries in the wooded area....and all the other members of Aunt Esther's family there too.  Sometimes there were  so many of us kids running around. Our extended family.  So glad I have those memories.....
On the stitching front... I know, you thought I would show you something... maybe a finish or work in progress. See all the fluff....it was a double feather. I am working on a Dream catcher, and I was one x off someplace in the feather and just could not let it stay. Oh I could have fudged through it..after all it is a feather. Not me, no. It was almost complete too! Besides, the pattern direction say to stitch with 3 strands and I thought I would rather use 2 because of the way I plan to finish this. Well, I am now starting it over with the 3 strands. I only wanted them to be "in the background". Maybe I will like it this way. Today is a work day....so not much will get done on this repair work. Thanks for visiting today...and listening to me. Thank you for being my friends.....have a good day.

When the back bell rings......

Well, now that I have time to think, it all makes sense. My "quick" run to the market this morning...I thought they were giving away stuff it was so busy. Jo Ann's has been busy, traffic has been busy....and there are more of those dreaded golf carts around the neighborhood. You ask why? They're back! those snowbirds are back..
Oh you are wondering about the back bell...it means the Postman has a package that can not fit through the mail slot.
My Trick or Treat package arrived! all the way from South Africa...from dear Cucki. There is a sweet pair of scissors, some orange beads, a lovely pouch, a pattern and pretty fabric. Do you see the bright orange threads? and look at the pretty pillow. And purple thread too. Thank you dear Cucki! Hopefully my package will arrive at it's destination soon.
I finally decided on how to finish my 3 ornaments.... and which will go where. My SSCS exchange is complete...just have to gift wrap it all and it will be ready for posting when the date arrives.
Sunday was the first time our new Tatting group met...lesson 1..... the ladies, Madonna, Mary and Sue seemed happy to be with The Debra and me. Now they will practice until we meet next Sunday at the library again. Today is lesson 2 for my sewing machine....applique, embroidery stitches and twin needle stitching as well as wing needle. It is a little tiring as I go to the class room shortly after  I clock out...a 2 hour lesson. But I am looking forward to it. Belva is a good teacher who really knows all the 3 machines we bring to class. Well, my friends, I think it is relax time...work today....and sewing class #2! Hope your day is fun....
