Tomatoes are growing!

A nippy start to the morning. Goodness it is 60 degrees out there! The house is chilly but I will not complain...no indeed this is nice because it will still get to the 90s today. I looked out the kitchen window...
yes, my first tomatoes. There are 4 of them. Then I looked around and felt proud that all that I have tried to do is working...plants seem to be growing well. Bees are buzzing and feathered friends are happy to visit.
Yesterday morning was lovely. I sat out on the porch for a couple of hours stitching and relaxing.
I finished the upper motif ...with the raven... and then the lower motif...with the cat... and will now move to another page of the pattern. Neighbor and friend Robyn came across the courtyard to sit and chat for a bit...both of us enjoying the lovely temps. The only issue I had was that sitting out front my leg was not propped up and began to ach so it was time to return to more comfortable sitting and a cup of tea.
I also sat with my art project
I know what you are thinking...where are her words and what is this?! Well it is all about layering and the words....well they are a way to begin. A way to anchor yourself to the project and give you the feeling of what it is you want to collage. In my minds eye it is all planned out...well, as planned as it can be because there are no specifics only thoughts.
I would like to mention another friend who has visited and emailed and well, just cares. It is Lynda Ruth from the blog Purple Pixie Dust. Lynda and her hubby Dave live in New Brunswick. My sweet friend is waiting for shoulder surgery but still finds the time to visit and comment. Keep your fingers crossed for her upcoming surgery and stop by to visit her. I hope you have had time to visit with Vickie and Debbie too.
I should be outside skimming the pond, spraying this plant or that one, doing laundry or whatever. Instead this is my day off. Day to do nothing or something as it comes to mind. I will write my thoughts in my private Dennis journal but other than that, I have the day off. Whatever your plans are I am sure they will be grand. Glad to have you visit and thank you for the kind words and concern for me. I am doing okay, as okay as I can be. Your friendship is what helps so thank you for being here from wherever you are.

Well, a day off is always good for the soul. I had to go to town to renew my license tags and I could not believe that there was no one in the line up and it only took 10 mins from the time I walked into the time I walked out and even men where opening doors for me. One man even let me go in front of him in a line in the dollar store. Dave can not believe the luck I have so I bought a lottery ticket for tonight and tomorrow night. Hope I win something. Glad you are doing okay. And yes, my shoulder is looking forward to it's surgery, maybe this luck will last until it is done and I can start recovering. Enjoy doing nothing today. Oh, ha I got a plant at Walmart for under 4 dollars. They where going to throw it out. It is a Strawberry Begona which I have been looking for for a long time. He said it was dead but right now after sitting in my sink and soaking up water for two hours it looks pretty alive to me. Now to repot into two pots. Big hugs my friend. love

Congrats on your tomatoes! They look great and will taste great when they're finished ripening. Somehow food we grow ourselves always tastes better!

I love that cat, and the raven too, beautiful stitching.

I am not sure if you read teen fiction (or Young Adult as we are supposed to call it!) but I read a great book called Heartless by Marissa Meyer all about how the Queen of Hearts became the way she was. I really enjoyed it, there is a love story at the centre but I loved the way they tied all the characters into the later story.
See if you can get it from the library and let me know what you think.

The cat and the raven are really neat! I am so glad you are taking the day off. Soon I will, but not today. Too many boxes surrounding us!!

It's good that you can sit out at this time of year, today our sun is shining but the air is very cool. I like the stitched piece you're working on Grace.

You have your own tomatoes, that's really cool. When I was a child we also had lots of tomatoes in my grandfather's garden and my sister and I used to pick them and eat them immediately. Sweet memories.

The raven looks like he's about to attack the cat, lovely progress you are making.
Hope your tomatoes are as tasty as they look.

Four tomatoes! We normally don't plant ours until early February, but it gets hot so early we are lucky to get one good crop before they wither. I too get excited seeing the little fruits grow. Hope you felt rested after your day off.
